We need more bridges of peace, unification, and compassion during such divisive times in our world today, am I right?
Brigid, a spiritual figure associated with both a pre-Christian goddess and Irish saint, can be seen as a bridge during such troubling times.
And today, Brigid's Day and Imbolc is a reminder of the importance of the values of generosity, unity, compassion, and justice.
There is something very special about the spirituality surrounding Brigid's Day in the nourishing community events, reflective rituals, songs, pilgrimage walks, weaving the crosses, or making new plans to be the change we wish to see in the world.
Every year I feel called to do something in my own corner of the globe to share about Brigid, the values of peace, justice, sustainability, and generosity she represents, lead workshops on Celtic spirituality complete with teaching the well known song, "Gabhaim Molta Bhride," show people how to weave a St. Brigid's cross or make some to share with others...
Sometimes, I don't expect to take on new ways to connect about Brigid, but each year I become overtaken with some new activity, lol.
From 2008-2010, I went on a special journey to explore the values of Brigid, the powerful spiritual figure and how ritual practices, including the usage of songs and chants bring meaning to those who participate. The journey still continues to this day.
So, this year, I was inspired very spontaneously to put together an audiobook based on this research that I conducted over 15 years ago. I mean, I have a full schedule and the motivation and the time to do this seemed to come out of nowhere! Brigid inspires us sometimes in ways that we don't expect!
I'll be offering this audiobook for a limited time this month in the spirit of inspiration, wonder, and awe in how the figure of Brigid has captured people's imagination, the practices surrounding her, and how these contemporary ritual and musical experiences can be so nourishing during such divisive times.
Ultimately, let this be an invitation in how we can feel a sense of unity in practices that work for us, which affirm kindness, generosity, care of the land, each other, and is inclusive of all of us!
Send me a message and I'll be happy get the details to you on how you can take a listen for yourself!
