Funbugs Childare At Funbugs Childcare we care for children from the ages of 12 months to 5 years. We also offer after school care from the ages of 4 years to 10 years.

Our rooms are age - specific in the care of babies, wobbblers, toddlers and pre-school children.

Action Ants Fun Club - Leading The Way

Catering for children 4 to 10 years old

At Funbugs Childcare we recognize the need for quality Afterschool care. We realise that the term 'afterschool' means after school and aim to provide a home from home environment for the children in our care.

Our service enables the children to relax and have fun after a more structured day in school. We are aware that a certain amount of homework needs to be accomplished and there is a supervised homework period for the children.

If your child attends our service before school, breakfast is be provided and we have a drop-off and collection service to Rathmore National School. On returning to us, the children are provided with a freshly cooked hot dinner and later in the evening a snack is also offered

* During the evening the children are able to relax and rest if they wish to do so.
* Take part in games and activities both indoor and outdoor.
* Play freely if they do not wish to take part in planned activities (children will be encouraged to take part but not made to).
Throughout the year we will introduce extra curricular activities, such as sewing, arts and crafts and sports activities.

Grasshoppers - Paving Our Own Path

In our Montessori Education Room we at Funbugs Childcare are introducing a structure which is a balance between learning through play, montessori and educational activities which will help your child prepare for school. As with Montessori Education, we are very conscious that children learn best through doing, and believe that real experiences are what children learn from most easily.

"I hear and I forget, I see and I remember, I do and I understand".

At this stage in a child's development they are able to communicate more clearly and become less frustrated and in turn will be more interested in and able to part-take in more activities.

While still providing learning opportunities through play using imaginative, constructive, manipulative, outdoor & free play and arts and crafts, the children's morning is based around the Montessori method, introducing them to new activities that promote independence, hand/eye co-ordination, fine motor skills, preparation for writing and reading.

Our Montessori and Preschool Education Curriculum also includes:

* Nature and science activities (age appropriate)
* Writing activities to promote pencil control (colouring, drawing, join the dots, drawing numbers, writing their names)
* Baking with our in-house chef
* Games and activities to promote concentration (age appropriate)
* Activities and games to further develop childrens understanding of numbers, colours, shapes etc.
* Cultural activities (continents, flags, people, foods, animals, plants, currency, etc.)
* Activities that promote working in groups and social interactions within a group.
* Children learn at different speeds and the nature of our teaching allows us to assess how each child is developing as an individual.

Busy Bees - Buzzy By Nature!
Catering for children 2 to 3 years old

In our toddler room we can see that the children's communication skills have grown and they are now really showing, and striving for, their own independence. We, as childcare professionals, must lead by example and encourage this strive for independence in a positive way with the children in our care.

Children at this age are generally more active than at any other point in their lives. You will notice them running, jumping and climbing quite a bit and showing an interest in taking items apart and putting them back together again. They will start to make lots of little friends and will enjoy taking part in group learning.

During this time, we will also work with you to toilet-train your child when you decide the time is right. Updates will be given to you the parent on your child's progress daily.

At Funbugs Childcare we will provide an environment and activities that facilitate these needs with:

* Table top activities that promote a wide variety of skills (puzzles, play dough, messy play, painting, drawing with crayons and chalk).
* Free play to further develop social interactions and build on growing friendships (dress up, home corner, quiet area, dolls, prams and puppets etc.).
* Music and Movement again promotes social interactions but also helps with physical development of both fine and gross motor skills.
* Constructive and Manipulative play (gluing, beading, threading, straws).
* Floor activities (building blocks, animals, cars, trains, floor puzzles).
* Outdoor play helps the children release any built up energy in a positive way (all outdoor games and activities will be age appropriate and most importantly fun for all the children involved).

Steady Snails - Ready, Steady, GO!
Catering for children 18 to 24 months old

Our Steady Snails room at Funbugs Childcare is designed for children who are starting to find their feet. It is a transition time from baby to toddler.

In this room their is a little more structure introduced to the children e.g dinner, tea, and sleep times will be gradually introduced as set time during the day. However we must remember that children at this age are still quite young and flexibility in regard to these patterns is very important. The needs of the children change all the time and each environment must change and adapt, with activities to suit the age and stage of the children in it.

The activities in this room provide further opportunities for learning, exploration and activities. They are introduced to the following:

* Develop communication skills further. Children's concentration levels are increasing all the time so introducing activities like story time and music time will help with these skills.
* Further opportunities for experimenting and exploring (puzzles, blocks, push and pull toys, books, musical instruments etc.)
* Introduction to arts and crafts activities (finger painting, brush painting). These activities are very tactile which is important as children learn a lot through touch.
Introducing age appropriate games ( hide and seek, ring a ring a rosie etc.)
* Circle time to further promote communication skills (story time, talk time, flash cards and songs)
* Role play to further develop social interactions and skills (dress up, home corner, dolls, prams, cars, trucks, toy animals)
* Free play and sand and water play to promote further opportunities for experimenting and exploring.

Ladybirds - Tender Loving Care

We understand that finding and entrusting your baby into a creche for the first time is very difficult and may be hard for you. This programme is offered to make this transition a little easier for both you and your baby. During this time you and your baby will get to know their primary care giver in the creche, who in turn will get to know your needs as parent and most importantly the needs of your baby.

We will talk to you in great detail about all aspects of our care and we will try to accommodate any special requests you may have. Our Staff will provide you with a daily report sheet detailing all nutrition, sleeping, medical administration and nappy changing so that you can monitor your baby's routine closely.

We recognise that from the moment a baby is born they are learning from the environment around them. At Funbugs Childcare we will provide an environment that will meet all your baby's needs.

Our staff aid in the development of your child's communication skills by providing them with the attention required for healthy social interactions. They do this through talking with the babies, action songs and nursery rhymes, age appropriate stories and general interactions like smiling, hugging, laughing and playing games and activities. We ensure that the babies in our care have a happy and active environment to grow and thrive in.

Our baby care room is spacious and self-contained to allow our team to give your baby the individual care and attention they need at this early stage. The Ladybird room is separate from the other rooms in the centre, containing its own kitchen and nappy-changing facility, thus allowing our staff to give full attention to your little Ladybird.
