Both courses are on 14th and 15th September 2026 and will be followed by supervised instructing phase with C-TAC faculty by:

We are set up and ready for our two Instructor Courses this week.

26th & 27th August: First Aid Response Instructor.
27th August: First Aid Response and Cardiac First Response Community Instructor Recertification.

These Instructor courses are led by our Director of Training and senior faculty. Instructors will receive co-branded C-TAC and PHECC instructor certification. We also have some of our C-TAC branded Glove Box Key rings to add to our instructor packs.

Wrapping up this week's cert run.

We've had excellent feedback on our new First Aid Essentials (FAE) – Basic First Aid course this week!

Sitting firmly between Cardiac First Response and First Aid Response, this course offers a solid foundation in first aid, although it doesn't replace the 3-day FAR course. Instead, it's designed to support First Aid Responders in the field, giving additional staff a basic knowledge of first aid so they can assist the FARs when needed.

We're introducing our latest investment in training equipment, Laerdal Choking Charlie, to enhance hands-on training for our learners.

Choking Charlie is an adult torso designed specifically for training students in the performance of the Heimlich Abdominal Thrust Manoeuvre. Its realistic anatomy and response gives instructors an excellent tool for teaching and practising this life-saving technique.

All of our PHECC accredited courses now include a core element of Cardiac First Response , including Adult Choking (FBAO) Conscious and Unconscious PHECC skills assessment sheets, ensuring our learners are equipped with the essential skills to respond confidently in real-life emergencies.

First Aid Response Blended Learning Progress update at C-TAC.

Our 18-month journey has reached its next stage.

This project began with our fully in-person FAR course. Our senior faculty researched other blended learning programmes across multiple disciplines, the needs of our learners, and our quality assurance processes. Lesson plans were written and reviewed, and our FAR Blended learning scripts were written, fact-checked and quality assured in line with the new First Aid Response Education and Training Standards and FAR Clinical Practice Guidelines, culminating in Version 6.

Working closely with our IT partners fusionweb.ie, our bespoke LMS platform was then designed and built, with videos made to match our scripts. We trialled the programme with 8 of our former learners, combining online learning with classroom time, monitored independently to ensure objectivity and quality. That trial brought reviews, feedback and amendments, along with the introduction of new skills and standards along the way.

We’re happy with our content, and today we’ve submitted our application for PHECC approval.

We’re getting closer to hopefully delivering flexible, modern, PHECC-aligned training that truly meets the needs of today’s learners.

We continue our visits this week, catching up with Jason and the Portarlington community responder group.

These visits let us observe our faculty in their dual roles as Trainers and Assessors, protecting the standards, integrity, and reputation of the C-TAC and PHECC brands wherever training takes place.

The feedback from our 2000 Infant CPR Manikins has been exceptional and so has the feedback from our instructors and learners.

The real-time CPR feedback continues to help learners develop confidence by providing instant guidance on compression depth and rate. We also had great fun customising their clothing with our Joy Xtra, creating colour-coded C-TAC logos to make equipment sets easier to manage and pair with the Prestan app during training.

The response has been so positive that we’ve invested again and are delighted to add another four Prestan 2000 Infant CPR Manikins to our training equipment, bringing our total to eight.

Another busy and rewarding week delivering two FAR courses, fully aligned with the PHECC 2026 Education and Training Standards.

The response from both learners and instructors has been outstanding. Our new Paediatric Emergencies and Major Emergencies modules have generated significant interest, with participants highlighting the relevance, practical application, and value of the updated and interactive content.
