Delighted to have four C-TAC instructors in Carlow this week delivering our Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC) accredited First Aid Essentials – Basic First Aid course for Carlow County Council on
their Farming Roots Programme.

Farming Roots is designed to help participants gain practical skills, recognised training, and the confidence to stay safe and get more from life on the farm. First Aid Essentials is a natural fit.

On the farm, help can be a long way off when someone gets hurt. Our one-day course gives farmers and their families the skills to respond in those first critical minutes.

We were delighted to have three of our faculty deliver the First Aid Essentials–Paediatric First Aid course to 21 learners as part of their Childcare Studies programme.

Under the Child Care Act 1991 (Early Years Services) Regulations 2016, a person trained in first aid for children must be immediately available at all times. This course gives learners that qualification before they step into their first early years setting.

Day 3 of our First Aid Responder (FAR) course in . Today our learners covered wounds and bleeding, heat-related emergencies, burns and electrical injuries, before putting it all together in patient scenarios with a strong focus on teamwork and communication.
It was also a big day for one of our trainee FAR instructors, who completed their final instructor assessments with us. Well done on all the hard work getting to this point.

We're set up and ready for Day 2 of First Aid Response (FAR) in .

Today our learners will complete:
Cardiac First Response – Community,
Paediatric Emergencies,
Role of a Responder at a Major Emergency.

This week we're also delighted to welcome some of our recently trained CFR and FAR instructors, who are attending courses with our C-TAC faculty as they begin their supervised teaching sessions.

Our learners are training with PRESTAN Products 2000 Adult, 2000 Child and 2000 Infant manikins with live CPR feedback, along with our Choking Charlie manikin.

C-TAC are wrapping up our two-day visit to the Emergency Services Show in Birmingham!

We've visited many stands and engaged with suppliers and we're delighted to be investing in a fire training solution built around virtual and augmented reality. This system is specially designed for fire prevention trainers. This immersive approach delivers safe, practical training, ideal for raising awareness, training and maintaining the skills of trainees and company staff.

C-TAC were spotted browsing SP Services Parabag 2.0 range at the Emergency Services Show in Birmingham!

Great to be there taking in the latest developments in training equipment and training technology. It's always valuable to see what's shaping the future of first aid and safety training and to think about what advances in simulation and training equipment we can bring back to our learners and courses.

The two days in the classroom will be followed by a supervised instructing phase with C-TAC faculty by:

Assisting an Instructor on Courses.
Being supervised by an instructor delivering of a course.
Completing Final CFR Community Instructor Assessments.

Successful instructors will be awarded a co-branded PHECC/C-TAC Cardiac First Response (Community) Instructor certificate.

Important update for Preschools & Childcare Providers.
Tusla's Early Years Inspectorate has confirmed which first aid qualifications meet the Child Care Act 1991 (Early Years Services) Regulations 2016, a person trained in first aid for children must be immediately available at all times.

The approved PHECC-accredited courses now include:
(FAE) First Aid Essentials – Paediatric First Aid.
(FAR) First Aid Responder.

C-TAC is a PHECC Approved Training Institution. We deliver and certify FAE-Paediatric First Aid, and our FAR course also contains a PAEDIATRIC MODULE so your service can stay fully compliant and your team is confident and prepared.

Please note: separate obligations also apply under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007 (S.I. No. 299/2007) — covering first aid equipment, occupational first-aiders and first aid rooms for your staff and premises. Whether you need a dedicated occupational first-aider depends on whether your Safety Statement and Risk Assessment deems it necessary.
