Kildare Steiner School

Kildare Steiner School An independent, multi-denominational & co-educational school in Co. Kildare bordering Wicklow

Our Kindergarten is broadly equivalent to a combined preschool, Junior Infants and Senior Infants class, with a mix of ages and a strong emphasis on play-based activities. Formal learning starts in our primary school in Class 1 (age 6) and continues up to Class 6 (age 12), with equal emphasis given to fostering a child’s intellectual, emotional and spiritual development – the ‘head, hands and hear

t’ approach. As an independent school, we are free to fully implement the Steiner Waldorf curriculum and give priority to Steiner training and experience when hiring teachers. We also run a twice-weekly Parent & Child group for children up to 3 years of age. For more detailed information on the unique Steiner Waldorf educational approach and our school, please see our website at www.kildaresteinerschool.org

Join us on Sunday, 23 August 2026, from 11:00am to 12:30pm at Kildare Steiner School for a special showcase celebrating the work and creativity of the children who took part in The Forest Workshop: Traditional Skills & Heritage.

During the four day workshop, the children explored traditional crafts using natural materials gathered from the local environment. At the showcase, families and members of the wider community will have the opportunity to see and celebrate some of the wonderful work they created, including:

* Willow weaving dream catchers – handmade using natural willow and traditional weaving techniques.
* Natural cordage – nettle rope making – learning how nettle fibres can be transformed into strong natural cordage.
* Handcrafted hazel butter knives – shaped by hand from harvested hazel using traditional green woodworking skills.

This showcase is an opportunity to celebrate the children's creativity, practical skills and connection with Ireland's natural and material heritage, while sharing their achievements with families and the wider community.

When: Sunday, 23 August 2026, from 11:00am – 12:30pm
Where: Kildare Steiner School, W91 CR24

Everyone is welcome. We look forward to gathering together and celebrating the skills, creativity and enthusiasm of the young participants.

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our dear friend, mentor and guardian of our school, Gale René Pullen-Foster.

Gale joined our school community in 2002 and became a much-loved teacher, mentor, artist, and friend. Over more than twenty years, she brought warmth, wisdom, creativity, and care to generations of children and families.

She carried the Steiner impulse with great strength and gentleness, helping young people to blossom and discover themselves. Gale was deeply respected and loved by pupils, parents, and colleagues alike.

Beyond the classroom, Gale brought beauty to the world around her — through her art, her love of nature and biodiversity, and the kindness and attention she gave so freely to others.

She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her curiosity, her appreciation for beauty, and the deep sense of peace and welcome she brought wherever she went.

As we prepare to accompany Gale on her final journey, we share the following arrangements, with all warmly welcome to attend:

Reposing
The Annex Apartment, rear of Newtown House, Grangebeg (W91 C8P7)
Sunday 17th May | 6pm–8pm

Funeral Mass
St. Joseph’s Church
Monday 18th May | 11am

The cremation afterwards will be private.
Family flowers only, please.

Refreshments afterwards
Martinstown House
All are invited to gather afterwards to share food, memories, and companionship together.

In honour of Gale, and to allow our community the space to gather, remember, and attend the service, the school will remain closed on Monday 18th May.

Condolences may also be shared through the online notice at RIP.ie

Rest in peace, Gale. You will remain forever in the hearts of our community.
