This term in school, we have been learning all about new life, with a special focus on the life cycle of a bird. As part of our learning, we incubated Ring-Necked Pheasant eggs in our classroom incubator.
The children have been fascinated by the process and have learned how the incubator carefully creates the perfect conditions for the eggs to hatch. We discussed how warmth, turning the eggs, and maintaining the correct humidity are all essential, just as a mother pheasant would naturally care for her eggs in the wild.
Excitement filled the classroom as the children watched closely for signs of hatching. Seeing the chicks begin to emerge from their eggs was a special moment, and the children were delighted to witness it first-hand. The experience sparked great curiosity and many thoughtful questions about nature and new life.
It has been a wonderful hands-on learning experience for everyone involved. Watching the pheasant chicks hatch has helped the children develop a deeper understanding of the natural world and the care animals need in their earliest stages of life.
