The planned nationwide public-service strike is due to go ahead tomorrow after a last-minute attempt to begin talks did not result in the action being called off.

More than 𝟯𝟬𝟬,𝟬𝟬𝟬 public-sector workers are expected to take part in the 24-hour strike, including teachers and Special Needs Assistants.

🏫 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀?

The INTO, ASTI and TUI are among the teaching unions taking part, and 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆, 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁-𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲.

SNAs represented by Fórsa are also expected to take part.

For parents, the priority now is practical preparation.

📩 Check emails, texts and school-app notifications from your child’s school
🏫 Confirm whether your school will be closed
🧸 Make alternative childcare arrangements where needed
💼 Check arrangements with your employer if you need to remain at home
♿ If your child relies on additional supports, check directly with the school about what tomorrow’s closure means for them

The Government and unions both say they want negotiations, but they remain divided over how pay should be addressed in those talks.

We’ll continue to share updates that are relevant to parents and families as the situation develops.

Why enroll in Cahir National School?

• Low teacher-to-student ratios and smaller class sizes allow teachers to closely monitor each child's progress

•Children in smaller classrooms feel less intimidated, are more likely to raise their hands, ask questions, and actively engage in lessons rather than blending into the background.

•Students often spend longer periods working with the same group of teachers, which allows them to build a deep understanding of each child's strengths, learning style, and personal growth.

•Small primary schools function as tight-knit communities where students feel personally known, valued, and safe.

•Communication between parents and teachers tends to be more frequent, direct, and collaborative, creating a shared team approach to the child's development.
