Wizard Academy Summer Camp

So, it's official. The Governments announcement yesterday that only outdoor summer camps may operate for post-primary children removes any possibility of Wizard Academy Summer Camp taking place in July 2020. We will miss this little window of pure magic we get to experience each year with all our young Wizards in training but we will meet again and the wait will make the reunion even more magical. ✨

I have written this post many times but my words feel inadequate. Wizard Academy Summer Camp was due to return this year on the 6th of July. The school was booked, plans were made and a whole new week of magic was due to take place. Will it happen now? It looks unlikely. Even if restrictions are lifted would it be safe at that point to bring all our young Wizards together? Who knows. It would be impossible to implement social distancing in our camp, it would remove a huge part of what makes it so magical. At the end of the day, whether or not a Summer camp goes ahead is not really on the list of priorities during these surreal times but it has always been so much more than just a Summer camp to me. I'll wait and make a decision based on the advice of our government and our medical professionals. There will also be other factors at play of course and perhaps the decision will end up completely out of my hands. I won't say we're all in the same boat right now because we're not. We're all in our own unique boats but we are all afloat on the same sea of uncertainty. I hope all our young Wizards are safe and I hope everyone reading this is hanging in there and surviving this as best you can. Stay safe, stay home, stay magical. Emma

I don't usually post personal things on this page but today I need to make an exception. At this very minute by Dad, Eamon, and his brother Tony are cycling 285 kilometres to Castleisland in Co. Kerry. They left Kells, Co. Meath at 3.30am this morning and kept going even when the thunder and rain hit. They hope to reach Castleisland before dark. These 2 men are both pensioners and are doing this epic challenge in order to raise much needed funds for St. Francis Hospice Raheny/Blanchardstown. If you can even spare five euro please consider sponsoring them through the link attached. They are well on their way to reaching €3000 and every euro counts.
