Leaving cert results are nearly here. Support is available for students and parents.

Each year, the Irish Second-Level Students’ Union (ISSU), Institute of Guidance Counsellors (IGC), National Parents Council (NPC) and Department of Education and Youth work together to provide the National Parents and Students Leaving Certificate Helpline.

The Helpline opens on Leaving Certificate Results Day – Friday 21 August and is staffed by professional and experienced guidance counsellors.

Students and parents can get practical information and support on:

🛠️ Apprenticeships
📚 Further Education and Training (FET)

📱 The text service is also continuing for 2026, alongside the traditional phone service. It gives students and parents another way to get support, particularly for anyone who feels more comfortable starting the conversation by text.

Whether you’re waiting for your own results or supporting a young person through Results Week, you don’t need to have every answer in advance. If something is unclear, the Helpline is there to help you understand the options and work out what comes next.

All Ireland Championships: Tara Hunt won the All-Ireland under16, 800m title in Tullamore on Sunday last and confirmed her status as an outstanding rising juvenile star in athletics on the National stage. Racing against the best of her age group from the 32 counties of Ireland, her gold was never assured until the final 20m, as with just over 150m to run, she was back in the pack, and her final 100m saw her claw her way into the lead. She took the title in determined fashion, clocking 2-14.94. The win also awarded her the double treble of athletics, as she had already won the Meath and Provincial under 16, 800m titles, to add to her gold on Sunday last. Also, along the way, she had won both the North Leinster and Leinster schools 800m titles before she went on to win the All-Ireland schools junior 800m title in early June. It was an amazing summer for this very talented young athlete.
