To the two hundred people of Kells, and across this county and country, thank you for coming to visit us. It is our hope that during this National Heritage Week, Headfort House gave you much to find pride in; that the generations that came before you are as much a part of the story of this house as the people who called her home. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

Ireland is a magical place, a beautiful place, and we are elated to be able to participate in the sharing of our rich and magnificent culture. We are excited to open our doors to the world, to welcome wanderers near and far, to learn more about the story of the House that became a School. Welcome, to the Headfort Journey during this years National Heritage week.

National Heritage Week, an initiative by the Heritage Council, celebrates all things heritage. It brings together communities, families, organisations, cultural institutions, academics and enthusiasts, to build awareness about the value of heritage and support its conservation.

Horses are synonymous with the story of Headfort School, so it is fitting that three of our superb riders will showcase their talents at the world renowned Dublin Show in August. Sadie, her little sister Freya, and Sage will represent all that is Headfort; our passion for horses, our penchant for all things outdoors, and our common purpose to ensure that our children have an extraordinary childhood. What a fantastic day at Emerald Park!

Our students had an amazing time on this year’s school trip, enjoying a day full of fun, adventure, and friendship. The bravest students took on the thrilling Cú Chulainn Coaster and Na Fianna Force, while others cooled off in the Viking-themed area with a ride on the exciting Viking Voyage water attraction.

Our younger students had a wonderful time in the Junior Zone, enjoying rides such as the Ladybird Loop Coaster and many other attractions designed especially for them.

In addition to the rides, we also visited the zoo area, where students had the opportunity to learn more about a variety of fascinating animals, including the bush dog, meerkat, Amur leopard, and Secretary bird.

It was a fantastic day that brought together students of all ages, giving them the chance to strengthen friendships, make new memories, and enjoy time together outside the classroom.

A wonderful way to celebrate and bring to a close another successful school year. Thank you to everyone who helped make the day so special!

Our students showcased their creativity and imagination in this year’s “Design a T-Shirt” Art Competition, and what an incredible display of talent it was!

The competition was very closely contested, with students producing a fantastic range of original and inspiring designs. Each entry reflected the creativity, effort, and unique ideas of its young designer, making the judging process a real challenge.

Congratulations to our winner, whose artwork was selected to be printed on a T-shirt – a wonderful achievement and a lasting reminder of his creativity!

We are extremely proud of all the students who took part. Their enthusiasm, artistic skills, and innovative ideas made this competition a great success and a joy to see.

As another wonderful Summer Term comes to an end, we look back on a season filled with adventure, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

From water fights and exciting excursions to historic castles, canoeing and climbing adventures, and action-packed days out, to pizza-making in our beautiful Topiary, sunset dinners, and countless walks around the Headfort grounds, every moment has helped make this term so special.

But beyond the activities, it is the friendships that make boarding at Headfort truly unique. Throughout the year, our pupils have built incredible bonds, shared countless smiles, supported one another, and created memories that will stay with them for years to come.

The adventures may come to an end, but the friendships made at Headfort will last a lifetime.

What a fantastic Sports Day!

From exciting races and determined performances to proud moments at the prize-giving ceremony, the event showcased the very best of Headfort spirit.

One of the highlights was the thrilling relay race between Bective and Kenlis, with Kenlis securing victory by the narrowest of margins after a fiercely contested contest.

Most importantly, the day was filled with encouragement, teamwork, healthy competition, and plenty of smiles. Congratulations to all our pupils for making Sports Day 2026 such a memorable occasion.

While medals and trophies were awarded, the real success was seeing every pupil take part, support one another, and embrace the spirit of friendly competition. We can't wait for Sports Day 2027!
