Today I graduate from dance and somatics education and I want to share some of the insights I’ve gained about myself over this last year and I hope that they might help some of you.
⠀⠀
I’ve had my focus on personal development for over five years now. Three years ago I got a certificate in executive and life coaching. It has put me under a lot of pressure to perform as a real professional. I always knew that I din’t want to coach in corporate environment, where most money is.
⠀⠀
Studying somatics has connected me to my inner body wisdom. I’ve become more aware of the things that serve me and things that don’t. This education has been like a continuation of my research into myself.
⠀⠀
Through these last years I have worked mostly with people who are on a self-discovery journey to their freedom, purpose and lately to creativity. I made a little money, but not enough to survive on it alone. I have often heard the advice like keep pushing, keep hustling, but it didn’t sit well with me. I think I didn’t feel like fully having found my place yet, so there was a lot of resistance within me.
⠀⠀
But through working with other people, I have worked a lot with myself. I have discovered that I am more of a teacher than a coach. Particularly after my last two workshop groups of facilitating The Artist’s Way, a 12-week course to unblock the artist within. It’s still a long way, but I have unblocked so much of my own creative energy. The best way to learn and implement something is to teach it to others.
⠀⠀
What’s more, I’ve accepted that slow pace living is really the kind of living for me. Being in the East of Finland really supports this slow energy. I feel at home in this moment. Continuing with my artistic ideas, doing it my own pace, enjoying the uncertainty of the world right now.
⠀⠀
I guess what I’m trying to say is that sometimes it takes courage staying true to yourself, making new discoveries, slowing down, listening to your body wisdom. But I know that each one of you reading this knows deep down what’s true to you.
