ITEC practical assessments are fast approaching! 💪🏋️
Our Sports & Recreation students have been hard at work putting their knowledge into practice as they prepare for their ITEC Gym Instructor practical assessments.
From coaching exercise technique and delivering clear instruction to spotting, correcting form and building confidence, every session is helping them develop the skills required of a professional gym instructor.
At Gorey Local Training Initiative, we believe the best way to learn is through real, hands-on experience. Our students aren't just studying fitness—they're applying their knowledge in a real gym environment, preparing them for employment in the fitness industry.

A fantastic session today as we welcomed back one of our former Student to deliver a practical introduction to Velocity Based Training (VBT) with our current students.

VBT is an evidence-based approach to strength and conditioning that uses movement speed to prescribe and monitor training intensity in real time. It helps coaches and athletes optimise performance, manage fatigue, track progress objectively, and make more informed training decisions. It's a method increasingly used in elite sport and high-performance environments.

Providing our students with opportunities to learn directly from experienced professionals and alumni who are working in the industry is something we take great pride in. Sessions like these bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world application, giving students exposure to the latest coaching methods and technologies.

This is the kind of hands-on, industry-led experience that simply isn't available on a typical 16-week course. Our commitment is to develop knowledgeable, confident practitioners by giving them access to practical experiences that prepare them for the demands of the profession.

A huge thank you to our former Student Dean for returning to share their expertise and inspire the next generation of coaches. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon!

This morning we had the opportunity to visit The for a well-deserved morning of relaxation and recovery.

From the sauna and whirlpool bath to the invigorating ice baths, it was the perfect way to unwind, recharge, and take some time to focus on our wellbeing. The facilities are fantastic, and the welcoming atmosphere made the experience even more enjoyable.

A huge thank you to everyone at The Recovery Yard for looking after us and providing such an amazing space that promotes both physical and mental wellbeing.

We'd also like to extend our sincere thanks to for funding opportunities like this. Your continued support allows us to access experiences that make a real difference to our health, confidence, and overall wellbeing. We truly appreciate the investment in our journey and the opportunities you provide.
