And just like that, a wonderful chapter closes! Yesterday, we said a very special final goodbye to our fantastic 6th class. The day was filled with celebration, from their beautiful graduation mass with their school friend to a memorable graduation ceremony and BBQ with their families. This group has been nothing short of amazing, and they leave a lasting impression behind them. We are truly going to miss their fun sense of humour, their kind smiles, and the great attitude they brought to school every single day. Wishing all of our graduates the absolute best as they step into secondary school—Ballycanew NS will miss you! 🎓✨

Congratulations to our 5th class student, Donnchadh, who successfully completed the ultimate Mountain Pursuit Challenge in the stunning West Kerry Gaeltacht! 🥾⛰️Taking on the most westerly mountains in Ireland, Donnchadh spent the weekend navigating Cruach Mhárthain and Sliabh an Fhiolair (Mount Eagle) on the breathtaking Di**le Peninsula. Following the weekend's theme—“Broken Irish is better than clever English!”—he gave a fantastic effort using his as Gaeilge throughout the journey! Here is a quick look at the epic route he conquered:

Friday Night: A trek up the Mionnán past the iconic "Ryan’s Daughter" schoolhouse to set up Low Camp.
Saturday: A massive day of hiking! From climbing the cobblestone paths of "Killary" village to the peak of Cruach Mhárthain (401m) , navigating the boggy terrain to Dunmore Head, and tackling the steep ridges down to High Camp at Mount Eagle Lake.
Sunday: Trekking the historic Bóthar Na Marbh (Road of the Dead) back to the Blasket Island Heritage Centre.

From battling steep mountain cliffs to embracing the Irish language, Donnchadh showed great determination and should be very proud of a huge achievement. We are incredibly proud of you, Donnchadh! Enjoy a well-deserved rest (and hopefully a shiny new MPC hoodie!) 🥇👕 Comhghairdeas leat! 👏✨

The positive vibes were off the charts today for Day 4 of Wellbeing Week! We kicked things off with our energetic Wake Up, Shake Up to get the bodies moving, followed by a beautiful, calming wellbeing walk through the Lavender Farm for our Junior Infants right up to 2nd Class (the scent alone was pure bliss!). 🪻🚶‍♂️

The energy skyrocketed again with some incredible Dance sessions with Ms O’Sullivan, and the hall was filled with laughter for Day 2 of the amazing Wobbly Circus workshops! 🎪🤹‍♀️

This is all on top of our Walk to School morning earlier today, AND a very special treat for our 6th Class—who officially put their business hats away and spent some of their hard-earned bottle company profits on a well-deserved pizza party! 🍕💼 What a way to celebrate.

We are officially refueled, relaxed, and ready for the final day tomorrow! 🌟

Move over, West End—our incredible 3rd Class just brought the house down with a jaw-dropping excerpt from Matilda the Musical! 🎭🎒

From revolting children to absolute superstars, these kids proved that "even if you're little, you can do a lot!"

We are bursting with pride over their amazing performance. Seriously, the vocals? Unbelievable. We definitely have some fantastic singers in our midst (and yes, parents, they will be singing these songs at home for the next three weeks minimum). 🎶🎤

A colossal, giant-sized HUGE thank you to Ms Doyle and Ms McGillycuddy for their endless hard work, patience, and support. 👏👏

👟 **Walk to School Success!** 🏫🚶‍♂️
A huge thank you to everyone who joined our Walk to School event this morning! It was fantastic to see so many families out on foot, celebrating the brilliant pedestrian safety progress made around our school grounds so far. It's already making a world of difference for our community.
While we are celebrating how far we've come, today was also about looking ahead. There is still vital safety work needed, and we are hopeful and determined to see further upgrades progress in the very near future to keep our routes completely safe for our children.
A massive thanks to everyone who came out to support us, hear our feedback, and see the routes firsthand:
* Our dedicated local councillors 🤝
* Members of the County Council Roads Section 🚧
* Lucy from An Taisce 🗺️
* Local TD Malcolm Byrne 🏛️
Together, we’re making our school route safer, greener, and healthier for everyone. Watch this space! 🛑✨

Today, Sarah, Aideen, and Niamh’s classes visited Kia Ora Mini Farm for a school trip. The children had a busy day exploring the farm, which included petting the rabbits, spending time in the playground, and taking a ride on the fire truck. It was an enjoyable and successful day out for all the classes involved. 🚜🐰🚒
