A clean grow-out is not an accident.

It’s the result of decisions you make during application.

How much product you use.
Where you place it.
How each layer sits on the nail.

If you only judge your work by how it looks on day one, you’re missing half the result.

Good structure should still look good when it grows out.

My next 4-month Beginner Training starts on 13 September.

You can learn 100 different techniques and still feel unsure when a real client sits in front of you.

The problem isn’t always that you need more information.

Sometimes you need to understand how to look at the nail in front of you and decide what actually makes sense for that client.

That’s the part I focus on in my training.

Not just:

“do this, then this, then this.”

But:

What am I looking at?
What does this nail need?
Which product makes sense here?
Why am I choosing this technique?

My 4-month Beginner Training starts on 13 September.

If you want to learn how to make those decisions for yourself instead of constantly checking what someone else would do, comment START and I’ll send you all the details. 🤍

When you see someone make a service look quick and effortless, it’s easy to forget how much work went into getting there.

You’re not only paying for the time you spend in the chair.

You’re paying for the skill, control and experience behind the result.

You’re not paying for the struggle. You’re paying for the result.

You can scroll for 10 minutes and suddenly feel like everyone is ahead of you.

She works faster.
Her clients come back every 4 weeks.
Her shapes look cleaner.
Her e-file work looks effortless.

And without even noticing, you stop looking at your own progress.

But someone else being further ahead doesn’t tell you anything about where YOU should be focusing next.

Maybe your next step is speed.
Maybe it’s prep.
Maybe it’s shape.
Maybe it’s simply getting more consistent.

Your job isn’t to catch up with everyone.

It’s to know what you’re working on next. 🤍

Save this for the next time Instagram makes you feel behind.

“Nothing ever lasts on my nails.”

If you’ve ever heard this from a new client, you probably know that little feeling of pressure that comes with it. 😅

Suddenly, you’re not only thinking about the nails in front of you.

You’re thinking about what happened with the previous nail tech… and trying to make sure it doesn’t happen to you too.

But you don’t need to prove that you can make them last.

You need to understand why they didn’t last before.

And sometimes that starts with something as simple as asking better questions before you even pick up your file.

The more you learn to assess what’s actually in front of you, the less you need to rely on “I’ll just do what I normally do and hope it works.”

That’s a huge part of becoming more independent in your work — not having one perfect routine for every client, but knowing when something needs to change and why.

Have you ever had a new client tell you that nothing lasts on her nails? 😅

You use the same products.
The same steps.
You prep the nails the same way.

One client comes back after three or four weeks and everything looks great.

And another messages you after just a few days because something has started to lift.

And you’re sitting there thinking…

“But I did exactly the same thing?”

Well… that might actually be the problem.

Because your clients aren’t the same.

Their nails aren’t the same.

And when you’re just starting out, it’s really easy to think that once you’ve learned one way of doing something, you just need to repeat it on every client.

But the more you learn, the more you start to realise that this job isn’t just about knowing the steps.

It’s about learning to look at the person sitting in front of you and decide:

“What do I need to do differently here?”

And THAT is when you slowly stop just following the steps…

and start actually understanding your work.

At training, when someone is sitting beside you, explaining every step and showing you what to do, everything can suddenly feel so simple.

Then you sit down with your first clients on your own… and it’s a completely different feeling. 😅
You start questioning things you thought you understood. You’re scared of making a mistake, and sometimes you simply don’t know what to do next.

I know how hard the beginning can feel because I’ve been there too.

But that’s part of learning.

You’re not supposed to know everything from the beginning. With every client, every mistake and every problem you learn to solve, you start trusting yourself a little more.

And then one day, something that used to make you panic just… doesn’t anymore. You know what to look for. You know what to change. And you realise how much you’ve actually learned along the way. ❤️

Is there anything in your nail work you still don’t fully understand?

I think we spend so much time focusing on what’s next…

…that we forget to appreciate how far we’ve already come.

So today, I’d love you to stop for just a moment.

❤️ What’s one thing you’re proud of in your nail journey? It doesn’t have to be something big.

Everyone talks about how to price a nail appointment…

But very few people know how much that appointment actually costs them.

When you first start, it’s so easy to think:

“If I charge €55, I make €55.”

I used to think like that too.

But running a business isn’t that simple.

Every appointment pays for so much more than the products you use during the service.

It helps cover your rent.

Your insurance.

Your taxes.

Electricity.

Internet.

Your booking system.

Education.

New equipment.

Cleaning and sterilisation products.

Marketing.

And all the hours you spend working before your first client arrives and long after your last client leaves.

That’s why I don’t think the most important question is:

“How much should I charge?”

I think the better question is:

“Do I actually know what it costs me to provide this service?”

Because if you don’t know your numbers, how can you know if your pricing is sustainable?

How can you invest in better education?

Replace your equipment when it needs replacing?

Take time off without worrying?

Or build a business that will still be here in five years?

Pricing isn’t just about choosing a number.

It’s about understanding your business.

And I think that’s something every nail tech should learn as early as possible.
