ROSSBEIGH UPDATE: Kerry County Council has lifted the prohibition on swimming at Rossbeigh Beach.
Following receipt of new results of samples carried out by the Marine Institute, the cause of surface water discolouration at Rossbeigh beach has been confirmed as an algal bloom which is not harmful to humans. The algal bloom has now largely dissipated.
On the advice of the Marine Institute and in consultation with HSE, Kerry County Council is pleased to advise that the prohibition on swimming at Rossbeigh beach is lifted with immediate effect. Lifeguards are on duty and both the Blue Flag and lifeguard patrol flags have again been raised.
