International School Anti Discrimination Task Force
Last 14th October I joined the International School Anti Discrimination Task Force. Launched by the International School of Geneva, ECIS (the Educational Collaborative for International Schools), the International Baccalaureate and AIELOC. It was AIELOC's members and their advocacy has pierced through the silence and propelled various organisations into action.
For me, as the initiator of iEducate Global, the run-up to the inauguration event was filled with a sense of hopeful action for the change we are igniting in schools. I felt honoured to be called to facilitate the work of the Leadership Committee. More on that in my next newsletter article.
Having taken part in the inaugural event, I felt incredibly privileged to have witnessed the power of ๐๐ง๐๐ฉ๐๐๐๐ก ๐ก๐ค๐ซ๐ in action. In the pursuit of doing better for one another, Sealey-Ruiz places Critical Love as the base of the Archaeology of the Self: A profound ethical commitment to caring for the communities in which we work (2020). To me, that's exactly where this International Ant Discrimination Task Force emanated from and what brought everyone together.
Love for their students,
Love for their schools,
Love for their communities,
Love for their organisations striving to do what's right,
Love for their own and future generations,
Love for fellow activists and DEIJ warriors,
Love for their cause,
Love for their work, and for education
Love for Social Justice and change
Love for their offsprings
Love for one another,
Love for the plenitude of being human
Love for humanity

This work started way before the inauguration event, and will be carried forward thanks to the incredible people that have committed to it, as well as those, like you, who are yet to join.

Greetings All!
Here is a review from our webinar on 14th April.
15/04/2022
We learned during the webinar yesterday, the international school community is pretty well aware of the barriers and the need for change!! See some of the comments on WHY the iDEIJ Continuum is needed in schools:
โTo improve the well-being of students and school communities. In particular, LGBT+ individuals''
โTo bing greater awareness to those who donโt look like me, advocate for those that do look like meโ
โTo better understand how we as educators can support our students. If we donโt understand everything in the DEIJ world, how can we support students to be successful?โ
โI would like to provide and improve the quality of services for my childrenโ.
โFrustration with systems in school that maintained inequity and did not foster a sense of belonging for allโ
โSo true representation can become a reality and we can start to address systemic injusticesโ
โI want my students to learn in the best environment possible. I want to honour all of their identities and validate all of their experiencesโ.
โ [A] Moral obligationโ
โBecause all cultures & knowledge systems are worth learning from - and our children need to know this beauty in their bonesโ.
โIt is important for members of the learning community to feel safe enough and have the agency to bring their most authentic selves. We can learn more from each otherโ.
To avoid checkbox DEIJ work and to hold schools accountable. It can also help with identifying next steps for growth.

On behalf of myself and the rest of the team, we want to thank you for attending the introductory webinar of the iDEIJ Continuum. It was so uplifting to have you there.
We hope you found it helpful and gained some clarity on how you might approach the journey towards student-centred educational practices for Inclusion, Belonging & Justice.
That is, through a holistic approach to sustained organisational change & dismantling barriers.
