Galway Sings Ladies Choir announce their second lunchtime concert to mark World Ovarian Cancer Awareness Day. The concert is free but donations will be accepted by the Galway Hospice.
Taking place in St Nicholas Church, Galway City at 1pm on Saturday May 9th this concert will feature light popular choral music from artists such as Tina Turner, Elvis, Bob Dylan, U2, the Cranberries and even Bob Geldof! This unique concert will have tunes you will know and recognise and you might even be invited to sing along with the choirs!
Joining Galway Sings are another Galway City based choir Cór na dTreabh. Both groups are directed by Peter Mannion Music. Peter Mannion just won the National Choir Competition for light music at the recent Cork Choral Festival.
Galway Hospice is a unique, inspiring and respected Galway institution. They provide compassionate, specialist palliative care to people affected by life-limiting conditions across Galway — in their homes, in care settings, and in their Galway Hospice centre in Renmore delivering care that is grounded in clinical excellence and guided by compassion, dignity, and respect.
The theme for World Ovarian Cancer Day 2026 is No Woman Left Behind, which reflects a powerful global commitment to ensuring that every woman, everywhere, has equal access to timely diagnosis, quality treatment, and compassionate care.
The concert is in memory of Ann Marie Hoade who passed away in the Galway Hospice from ovarian cancer in early 2025. Ann Marie was a noted fundraiser for cancer charities and worked on making the public aware of ovarian cancer and early diagnosis and treatments. Her media work detailing her own story has left an indelible mark on her family, friends, work colleagues and the wider public.
The singers from both The GalwaySings Project and Cór na dTreabh are honoured to present a concert in memory of Ann Marie and to raise funds for the Galway Hospice. We invite everyone to come long and support this special event.
The concert takes place on Saturday May 9th at 1pm in Saint Nicholas' Collegiate Church, Galway with the concert lasting about an hour or so.

On Friday April 10th we had the pleasure of being guests at Áras an Uachtaráin for a visit.
We had a wonderful day and we want to thank the staff for making our day very special.
Our trip wouldn’t have been possible without the stellar work of our member Trish Mulgannon who organised this special trip.
