One of the toughest tasks for teachers (and SLTs!) can be to work with a young child who has underdeveloped attention skills. If a child is unable to pay attention to you, then they will have difficulty listening, and are not available to engage for communication, or for learning.
This is a good way to work on developing attention skills for any child, from the ground up! The goal is to increase the length of time a child can maintain their attention to a particular activity, whether it’s for an extra minute, or an extra second or two!! Progress is progress!

This is a great visual to support question formulation in response to comments, for children who struggle to ask relevant questions to keep a conversation going. You could sketch out a similar template, laminate & reuse with whiteboard markers again and again..
