🌊 Ocean Voices: A Community-Based Marine Literacy Installation

Atlantic Technological University students from the BA Early Childhood Education and Care programme at ATU Galway City and ATU Mayo, in collaboration with Arts Council Artist in Residence JD Whitman, will present Ocean Voices at the Black Box Theatre, Galway on 2 May.

Ocean Voices is a large-scale immersive installation created from repurposed plastic materials collected from beaches around Galway Bay. Using sculptural forms, sound, and digital media, the work explores marine biodiversity, plastic pollution, and ocean sustainability.

The project is the culmination of a year-long programme in Early Childhood Education and Care and invites children, families, and the wider community to engage with key issues in marine science and ocean literacy through a creative, research-informed experience.
