The number of people who watch you build something and say nothing is wild.

You’ll double tap a stranger with 200k followers without thinking. Someone you’ve known fifteen years posts about the thing they’re trying to build and you scroll past it.

Not out of badness. It’s awkward. You know them, so it feels like a bigger deal than tapping a stranger’s post.

It’s not. It’s four seconds. And for someone trying to get something off the ground, four seconds from ten people is the difference between a post that dies and one that reaches someone who needed to see it.

Support the people around you out loud. You’ll never know which share was the one that mattered.

Let’s be honest here for a second. You more than likely know what needs to happen next.

You know which door needs to be closed, which window needs to be opened, which habit needs to go, and which direction you keep avoiding.

But comfort is nice.

Maybe later.

I’ll start when things calm down.

Or the usual, I’ll start next Monday.

Then another week passes, another month disappears, and before you know it, it’s next year.

You don’t need another sign. You don’t need more confidence.

You just need to get uncomfortable and take the leap.

You already know what to do.

So do it.

Turns out it’s broken.

February was the first month I’d trained properly since our third baba arrived. You don’t just stroll back into the gym with three under five at home unless you want to neglaect your role as a parent and husband. You have to earn that. And I finally had. Routine was back and we found a sliver of time.

Going regularly, making progress, actually chasing something for once.

March, small niggle in the shoulder. Ignored it, obviously.
April, couldn’t do a push up.

Then months of resting it, physio, hoping, resting it again. Few runs here and there but nothing worth talking about.

Few weeks ago I finally got it looked at. Fractured. Not a sprain, not a strain. An actual fracture.

And that’s the bit that’s a pain in the hole. No fall. No impact. Haven’t played contact sport in years. It’s just gym, bit of running, bit of cycling. I didn’t do anything. It seems it just wore out, and I kept training on it because I’d waited too long to get back and wasn’t giving it up.

So the goal’s gone. The block’s gone. Still protecting it, still can’t load it, still sitting here waiting on it. And there’s nothing to do about it. No exercise, no protocol, no clever fix. Just time.

That’s the whole plan. Wait. 🙄

Ugh, Stress

For the last fourteen(ish) weeks, myself, Steven and John have been in with these students. Getting to know them. Working with them. Pushing them to a standard where we’d be happy to put our name behind them.

tomorrow they walk into a room with an external examiner. Someone they’ve never met. Someone they’re not comfortable with. And they have to know their s**t.

It’s stressful for them, but honestly it’s stressful for us too. Because tomorrow isn’t just a test of them, it’s a test of how well we’ve educated them, looked after them, and brought them to the standard ITEC requires.

And that standard matters. ITEC is an internationally recognised qualification. It’s not some Mickey Mouse yoke done over a few days or a few weekends. That’s the whole point. If anybody could pass it, it’d be worth nothing on the gym floor.

Here’s the thing about pressure though. Everything stressful you come out the other side of makes you better. Pressure forms diamonds.

So best of luck to every one of our students going in tomorrow. No doubt in my mind you’ll be top notch by the end of it.

There’s a brilliant quote I heard at a wedding once.

“You can have a good day or a great day.”

Some decisions take a while before you know whether you got them right.

Selling my business last year was one of those decisions but it was hard to see it at the time.

It wasn’t an easy one. I went back and forward on it for the best part of a year but by far, the biggest reason I eventually made the decision was family.

I wanted more time with them. I wanted to be there for the things you don’t get a second chance at. First words, first steps, first ….. You get the point.

Today was one of those things.

This morning I got to walk my daughter to primary school for her first day, with the whole family. We watched her go in, worried about her for a few minutes, realised she was absolutely fine and we were not doing as well as she was with it. 😂 And then headed off for a coffee together.

Nothing particularly extraordinary really.

But it was one of those mornings that quietly reminds you why you made certain decisions in the first place.

There are plenty of things I miss about the business I sold (which I’ll speak about in different videos.)

Today wasn’t one of them.

A great day.

These days are lovely and warm but my God, we are not made for this kind of heat.

Lol, of course I don’t nap. 3 kids and running a business. The only nap I would get would be because of a concussion of some sort. 🤣

So this post is not in line with my content but it is@line with my sense of humour. When building a personal brand, authenticity and being genuine are a non-negotiable as your audience need to trust you and what you say.

So if you put yourself out there as you, what you know and what you enjoy, then your audience that follows you genuinely like you for you.

If you fake it, you’ll eventually get found out and as soon as that happens, trust is lost and you’ll never get it back. And truthfully, you never deserved your audience’s trust in the first place.

Food for thought.
