Congratulations to Sixth Year student Méabh Murray who was recently named as Athenry Rounders Club Senior Player of the year!
Méabh Murray
Athenry Rounders Club 2026 Senior Player of the Year
Congratulations to Méabh Murray on being named our Senior Player of the Year, an honour made even more special by being chosen by her fellow senior players, and what makes this achievement all the more remarkable is that Méabh is still a minor player.
Despite her age, Méabh stepped up to senior level this season and played there consistently throughout the year, taking on the challenge with maturity and confidence well beyond her years. Holding down first base for the senior team, she quickly established herself as a player her teammates could depend on.
Méabh’s greatest strength has been her consistency. With steady hands and excellent awareness, she has provided a safe pair of hands at first base all season, while also producing some truly outstanding catches that have turned heads and made a real difference in games.
But Méabh’s contribution has been far from limited to her fielding. She has also been a strong and reliable batter, producing important hits and showing great confidence at the plate. Her all-round performances have made her a hugely valuable member of the senior team.
Playing senior rounders as a minor for an entire season is a challenge in itself, but Méabh has embraced it wholeheartedly. She has shown composure, determination and a level of maturity that belies her age, proving that she is more than capable of competing at the highest level.
From the dependable plays at first base to the spectacular catches and the quality batting performances, Méabh has had an outstanding season and has made a significant contribution to the senior team.
Congratulations to Méabh Murray on being named Senior Player of the Year. A fantastic achievement and a thoroughly deserved recognition of a player who has shown that age is no barrier when you have the talent, determination and confidence to step up.
