Awards for young Galway Authors
Four hundred budding young Galway writers will be awarded prizes on Thursday, 30 April in the Radisson Blu hotel as part of this year’s Write A Book/Scriobh Leabhair project, run by the Galway Education Centre.
The Write a Book Project, now in its 30th year nationally, enables primary school children to become real authors as they create their own books by actively engaging in the processes of writing, composing, constructing, designing, illustrating and presenting their work to a wide audience.
Pupils from primary schools across Galway city and county submitted over 3,000 original stories this year. Stories are submitted as either individual or group projects and can cover any topic they choose, giving complete freedom for young imaginations to run wild.
The prizes for this year’s winners will be awarded in two ceremonies, one for the Write A Book entries and another for the Irish-language Scriobh Leabhair stories.

Physical Education: Fundamental Movement Skills
This practical workshop will support teachers in creating and setting up a workshop that will focus on children’s fundamental movement skills.
Advice on nutrition, exercise and stretching will be incorporated throughout the workshop.
