Galway Kendo Club

Today marked our final training session of 2025, closing out what has truly been an eventful year for our club.
We grew in numbers, passed our gradings with confidence, and attended numerous seminars that broadened our skills and deepened our understanding of kendo.
Most notably, we achieved our strongest performance in the Irish National Kendo Championship in recent years—perhaps even in our club’s history.
With that, we’ll hang up our shinai for a short winter break. Training will resume on January 11th, when we return to a brand‑new dojo.
We wish all our friends and supporters a very Happy Christmas, and may plenty of kendo‑themed gifts find their way under your tree!!!

We’re absolutely thrilled! Not only did we earn ippons, but we also won some matches along the way. Our Adults Team have never made it this far before!

As Biel Sensei said: "You need to win inside!" We definitely did......

We are pleased to announce that training will resume at our usual location on Sunday, 10th August at 12:30 PM.
We look forward to seeing you there.

Please be advised that, due to unforeseen technical issues, our kendo training sessions have been temporarily suspended.

We are actively working to resolve the matter and will inform you as soon as we have a confirmed date for resuming training.

We crossed swords with some of our friends from Dublin Kendo Kobukai. After a chaotic beginning we had a very good training. Then we enjoyed a meal together. Finally we explored Galway Aquarium and Salthill Promenade. Such an afternoon!
