Knocknacarra Educate Together National School

On Friday evening the Parent-Teacher Association organised an intercultural event for the families of our school. Food, language, clothing and artefacts from various cultures were shared. It was a fantastic evening, and sincere thanks to all the families who helped organise the event. Children who attended had great fun filling their passports with stamps and information, and all the adults had great conversations and had a chance to get to know each other better.

On Thursday we celebrated World Children's Day. Emma, from UNICEF Ireland, attended our assembly and presented the school with the Gold Award as a Child Rights School. This is a culmination of several years of efforts led by our Student Council. Children have learned about the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, and the whole school has worked to enhance and promote student voice in our learning community. The Student Council, along with our Learn Together Committee, organised a series of activities in the hall during on Thursday to explore and celebrate children's rights. At the assembly every class shared learning activities they completed linked to one of the articles of the Convention.

Many of our classes greatly enjoyed performances and interactive art workshops during this year's Baboró International Arts Festival for Children. We are so lucky to have such an amazing annual festival here in Galway!
