The almost Full Moon hurt the contrast on the comet's long tail, but illuminated the clouds and landscape.

If the skies stay clear we are in for a show! Comet NEOWISE is visible with the naked eye or binoculars, current best viewing times are 11pm-1am. Anyone get a picture yet?

We are delighted to welcome Dr. Luca Matrà to our academic staff in the School of Physics! He has recently led studies of exocomets using millimetre-wavelength observations at the Harvard Centre for Astrophysics, but we are very pleased to welcome Luca back to Ireland where his physics journey began.

We are delighted to welcome Dr. Jurgita Ovadnevaite as a new lecturer in the School of Physics! Her work on on aerosol chemistry, formation, transformation, climate and health impacts as part of our research staff has been nothing short of stellar, and we look forward to seeing what she does next.

Researchers in the School of Physics Centre for Climate and Air Pollution Studies (CCAPS) are currently recruiting for a PhD student to work on an SEAI funded project. The project aims to assess the capability of natural ventilation to reduce energy consumption and avoid overheating while simultaneously maintaining indoor environmental quality within Irish buildings.
