Young Minds Online Young Minds Online is a course designed for TY students to help them understand what steps need to be taken to safeguard their social media use.

As a parent of an impressionable teenager, Joanne long-held the view that teens and tweens require a toolbox of skills to help them protect their online reputation. As a digital practitioner and trainer Joanne was well equipped to navigate her daughter Sophie through her social media years, but realised that other parents were not so knowledgeable about the online world. Together Joanne and her 18 year old daughter Sophie developed Young Minds Online – bringing together the expertise of a digital practitioner and the mindset, habits and opinions of a teenager. The course allows teenagers, under the supervision of their own teachers and Joanne, to help each other understand what steps you need to take to safeguard your privacy online, develop a social media policy booklet for all pupils in their school as well as their parents, and also help fight online bullying. Salerno Secondary School in Salthill, Galway was chosen to pilot the course during their 2013/2014 academic year. Module Components:
There are six key modules in this course with ongoing mentoring and support from Joanne and the Digital Training Institute team.

-Managing your Online Reputation
-A Social Media Use Policy for Teenagers
-Putting Young Heads on Old Shoulders
-Survey of Social Media Use in your School
-Developing the Digital Footprint of your School
-Anti Social Media Behaviour
