Graffiti Name art 💚💜

This was one of those projects I really wasn’t sure would work😅 I won’t lie the taping element is more suited to older classes but the result is great🤩

I wrote out the children’s names making sure to ‘square’ off the letters making it easier to tape them. We used washi tape and masking tape both worked equally well. We had to cut the masking tape in half for a narrower strip for longer names.

The children dabbed over their name with sponges and paint. Some opted to cover the whole page and some just the name, both give a cool spray paint effect!

Once dry I carefully peeled off the tape. It might lift some paper in a few spots but I think that adds to the effect👍🏻

⛵️Sailing into Summer⛵️

Day 1 of our art exhibition ✅ I snapped these as I was running out the door this afternoon! A lovely fun one for this time of year.

A4 card cut in half for the base, strips of paper used to create the waves. I printed out a boat shape for my class but older classes could certainly draw their own! I laminated them so that they would stand a bit better also👍🏻 I added a tiny strip of card folded in half to stick it to the base!

❤️💙💜Valentines 💜💙❤️

Sometimes the simplest ideas are the best! I just love how these pictures turned out. An A3 page, lots of brightly coloured paints,a black marker to finish and lots of creativity from my little artists😊

Hansel & Gretel Gingerbread House 🍬🍭🍬

The cardboard from the folens annuals has come in handy once again! We have been reading about Hansel & Gretel so we completed these sweet houses🥰

I cut the house shapes beforehand, then the children drew and painted colourful sweets. We finished them off by sticking on some lollipop sticks and Pom-poms!

I would recommend using a hot glue gun to add the lollipop sticks👌🏻

Hibernating Animals🐻🐞🐿🦔

‘Brown Bears do it, ladybugs too.
Bats and snakes and a frog or two!
Hedgehogs, chipmunks in a sleepy state,
What do they do? They Hibernate!’

We did some art based on the poem above, animals that hibernate. We painted a large black circle onto A3 paper, then sponged some autumnal colours around. I printed some animal clip art and the children coloured them in. Then we added some pressed leaves around the circle. Very simple and very effective!

🌈Clay tea light holders🌈

I couldn’t wait for them to dry before I posted🙈

Clay can always be a fun one with infants😅but this lesson worked really well today. The children loved it.

>>Swipe to see how we created them. You could probably give less clay and make them a little smaller but I didn’t want to risk punching a hole through the bottom!

We used beads I found in IKEA but any would do, small shells would also be lovely!

Summer Sandcastles ☀️🌊

This is a nice lesson to try at this time of year, the children really enjoyed it!

Swipe>>>>The first two pictures were done with junior infants and the last was from 2nd class a few years ago! So it’s suitable for all ages😊

On A3 paper they drew their sandcastle design, we then painted the yellow sand and blue background. I mixed some PVA glue through the paint and we sprinkled some sand onto the castles to add texture while they were still wet.

Once dry, the children used oil pastels to add details and outline the castles with black.

‘I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream’🍦🍨

We loved this project today, so quick and easy! I gave the children a cone shape to cut out and stick onto their background. We then used pritt stick to glue down the cotton wool balls. I mixed some pastel colour paints and added water so they were quite runny. The children dabbed the watery paint onto the cotton wool and sprinkled with glitter!

Can you believe these were done by junior infants?! I’m obsessed! They did so well🥰

We have been looking at the big book ‘Handa’s Surprise’ this week and discussing healthy eating. Today we talked about artist Paul Cézanne and his still life paintings of fruit.

We had a chat about perspective(or how to make it look like the fruit is in the bowl for infants)😂

We drew first on A3 paper and then painted! I think they did brilliantly🍎🍐🍊🍋🍇

Dear Mom,
I will love you forever;
And forever you will be
The most wonderful mother
You mean everything to me.

I thought of buying you flowers
In the usual way,
But I knew you would prefer a forever bouquet.

A lovely idea for Mother’s Day on Sunday💐💐 We used an A4 piece of card and folded into a fan shape. The children coloured some flowers and stuck on. We added a small piece of washi tape at the bottom to hold the shape! Will add the poem to the card to send home💕💕

Valentines/Spring art at home!

This is a very easy way of trying an element of print at home. All you need are some washable markers, paper, a plastic bag, and a spray bottle of water!

This can be used for many different themes but I think it works really nicely with the hearts! 💕💕💕
