Interrogating the ‘Peace Plan’ through Newspaper theatre, songs and images.
In this week’s rally, our group will be performing a piece of newspaper theatre.
Newspaper theatre was first developed in Soviet Russia as a way for theatre artists to reveal hypocrisy under strict censorship rules. Since then, artists under authoritarian regimes have used this form of theatre to reveal what is left unsaid.
We will be performing Newspaper theatre at the protest to critique the “Peace plan” using words from the plan alongside facts, statistics, and social media posts to create a tapestry of what has taken place since the plan was first declared in October 2025. It is up to those listening to parse out the hidden motivations behind what is written in the news.
What does it mean for us to have a genocide live streamed on social media, alongside silence from news media sources, while over 260 journalists in Gaza have been killed? What might the ‘Peace plan’s’ “investment proposals and exciting development ideas” refer to? Through songs, visuals, and literal reading of news sources, we will spark critical questions with creativity and connection.
Join the rally at 1pm on Grand Parade.

In two weeks we are finally having another course in Theatre of the Oppressed. We are so exited about this opportunity!!
This training is leading up to another one we are hosting with Jose Soeiro in Legislative Theatre, where participants need prior knowledge of TO.

We are exited to announce that we are (finally!) having a weekend workshop open to anyone interested in learning more about TO. As this training is a part of a bigger project around CARE+; those who have an interest in Care and Support (maybe you are supporting/caring for someone at home or working with it professionally) are especially invited!

Theatre Responds to Genocide
Wednesday 2 July 2025 | 18:00–20:30 IST | Zoom
Join us for an urgent online gathering of theatre-makers standing in solidarity with Palestine.
As over 54,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, artists are asking:
- What can theatre offer in the face of genocide?
- How do we hold space for grief, rage, and resistance?
- This event brings together artists using theatre to confront violence, amplify Palestinian voices, and imagine freedom.
- Featuring reflections, and dialogue, it’s a space for solidarity, storytelling, and truth-telling.
Speakers include:
Mustafa Sheta – General Manager, The Freedom Theatre, Jenin Refugee Camp (Palestine)
Ben Rivers – Founder, Dawar Arts; co-founder of the Freedom Bus (Australia, Egypt, Spain)
Sabrina Speranza – Theatre of the Oppressed practitioner (Uruguay)
Lou van Laake – Leader of Full Circle Playback Theatre (Ireland)
Julian Boal – Theatre of the Oppressed teacher and activist (Brazil)
🎟 Free event. Donations welcomed for The Freedom Theatre, Palestine during the session.
🗣 All are welcome—come listen, learn, and stand in solidarity.

So, we are officially on summer break after a lovely weekend of group development. In August we are back again starting up on a new project around the crisis in the care work sector.

Today we performed our final edition of our play that is based on findings from the biggest research made on Alternative Education in Ireland. Our audience were policymakers and practitioners within the field, and it was a great ‘Success?’ We aim to continue playing it to the people that really matter. Watch this space.
