Do you make New Year resolutions every January but find it hard to stick to them?

This year how about choosing one goal that's important to you, & that will make a positive impact on your life & working that.

Following the steps below will help you stick to the plan 👇

💫 Make the goal specific: e.g. I would like to walk/run for 20mins 5 times a week.

💫Make it timebound, when do I want to have achieved my goal by?

💫Work out the actions you will have to take to achieve the goal

💫Are there any obstacles to achieving my goal? what are they & how can I overcome them

💫 Make it easy to achieve it: incorporate it into your normal routine e.g I will walk/run in the track on my way home from work or after dropping the kids to school

💫 Do you need support, are you more likely to do it if you have a friend on board with you?

💫 Give yourself credit for following through & what you said you were going to do

💫Review your progress, what's working well, what isn't. Do I need to change anything?

When you have a chronic or serious illness, it can be a lonely place to be. It can feel like the illness has taken over your life & identity. I know from personal experience how difficult it can be to cope with the feelings, emotions & symptoms that come up.

When we are experiencing this kind of challenge it can be difficult to distinguish what we are going through from who we are. Remind yourself today that this is something you are experiencing and is not you & doesn't define you.

Developing good habits & becoming actively involved in your own care can help you take back control of your life. Focus on what you can do to best support your wellbeing e.g. following a healthy diet, getting enough sleep, finding an exercise routine that suits you body & practicing mindfulness & meditation.

We all know how hard it is to break a bad habit. Through repeating the same behavior over time a bad habit has stuck.
