VALUABLE INFORMATION:
How to Get Your Own Police Certificate:
A Police Certificate is issued by the local Garda Superintendent for the area where you reside or previously resided. It is free of charge and takes approximately three weeks to process.
Steps to apply:
Download/Obtain the Form: Get the "Police Certificate Application Form" from the Garda website.
Fill out the Form: Complete all sections, including your name, address, date of birth, and any other names you have been known as.
Gather Documents: Prepare the following:
A copy of your passport or driver’s license.
Proof of address (e.g., a utility bill, bank statement, or official letter).
Submit the Application:
Post: Send the completed form and documents to the District Superintendent of the Garda Station in the district where you live (use the Garda Station Directory to find your station).
In-Person: You can bring it to your local station, but it still needs to be processed by the Superintendent in charge of your residential district.
Provide an Envelope: Include a self-addressed, stamped A4 envelope for the return of your certificate.
Important Notes
Timeframe: The process usually takes about three weeks.
Validity: The certificate is valid for 12 months.
Not Vetting: A Police Certificate is not the same as Garda Vetting, a security clearance, or a character reference, and cannot be used in place of it.
Overseas Residents: If you have lived outside the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland for a cumulative period of 12 months or more after age 18, you may need to submit national police clearance from those countries as well.
We are looking for a reliable nanny/childminder in Galway City for our 3-year-old son starting this July. My husband and I are both doctors and will be joining University Hospital Galway.
He will be attending crèche, but we may need someone who can drop him off and pick him up, and possibly mind him for 1–2 hours after crèche (as our work may extend beyond 5 pm). We may also need occasional help on weekends or on days when the crèche is closed.
If interested or if you have any recommendations, please feel free to message me. Thank you 😊
