👩‍🍳What happens during Cook & Thrive?

You may be wondering what actually happens during my six-week Cook & Thrive programme.

Each week, we meet live online for a relaxed and practical cooking session.

While we cook, I explain how different foods and nutrients can support areas such as:

• brain health and concentration
• energy and mood
• inflammation and joint health
• heart health
• immunity
• long-term family health

You will receive the recipes and supporting resources, and the sessions are recorded, so you can catch up if you cannot attend live.

💯This is not a diet or a quick fix. It is about developing skills, knowledge and recipes you can continue using long after the programme finishes.

The next course starts on 8 September.

💯You do not need a perfect diet

👩‍🍳A healthy diet does not need to be perfect.

It does not require cutting out every food you enjoy, cooking everything from scratch or following a long list of complicated rules.

💯What matters most is what you do consistently.

A few realistic habits can have a much greater impact than a short-lived, restrictive plan:

✅eating regular meals
✅ adding vegetables rather than only removing foods
✅ including protein throughout the day
✅ choosing higher-fibre carbohydrates
✅ preparing a few reliable meals you enjoy

Nutrition should make life feel better, not more stressful.

That is the approach behind Cook & Thrive, my six-week menopause nutrition and cooking programme.

The next programme begins on 8 September, and early bird tickets are available now.

Food for bone health

💯Bone health deserves our attention during menopause.

⭐️As oestrogen levels fall, women can lose bone density more quickly, making it important to consider both nutrition and strength-building exercise.

Helpful nutrients include:

• calcium
• vitamin D
• protein
• magnesium
• vitamin K

Calcium is found not only in dairy foods but also in foods such as fortified plant milks, tinned fish with soft bones, tofu, beans and some green vegetables.

It is rarely about one “superfood”. Bone health is supported by the overall pattern of what we eat and how we move.

Bone and muscle health are among the topics covered in Cook & Thrive, starting on 8 September.

Fibre supports far more than digestion.

A fibre-rich diet can help support gut health, heart health, blood sugar balance and a healthy cholesterol level.

A good approach is to gradually increase the variety of plant foods you eat, including:

• vegetables
• fruit
• beans and lentils
• wholegrains
• nuts
• seeds
• herbs and spices

Variety matters because different plant foods nourish different gut bacteria.

There is no need to transform your diet overnight. Begin by adding one extra plant food to a meal you already enjoy.

In Cook & Thrive, we turn nutrition advice like this into practical meals you will actually want to cook.

The next course begins on 8 September, with early bird tickets available now.

A little foodie heaven in San Sebastián 🇪🇸🍅🐟🍷

For me, one of the greatest pleasures of travelling is discovering how people eat — and San Sebastián has been such a treat.

The pintxos may get all the attention (and rightly so!), but what has really struck me is the incredible quality of the ingredients. Beautiful fresh fish and seafood, colourful vegetables, fabulous cheeses, great bread, local olive oil… simple, fresh food that doesn’t need much done to it.

And then there’s the wonderful way of eating here — rather than sitting down to one big meal, you can wander from bar to bar, choosing the pintxo each place is famous for, enjoying a small glass of Txakoli or Rioja and then moving on to the next. 🍷

It’s sociable, relaxed and such a lovely reminder that eating well is about so much more than nutrition. Good food is about pleasure, sharing, connection and really good ingredients.

If you’re someone who plans your holidays around where you’re going to eat (🙋‍♀️), put San Sebastián on your list.

I’ll definitely be taking a little Basque inspiration home with me! ❤️

Eating for energy

🤔 Do you regularly reach the afternoon feeling tired, hungry and unable to concentrate?

Your lunch may be part of the problem.

A lunch built mainly around refined carbohydrates can provide quick energy but may not keep you satisfied for very long.

For steadier afternoon energy, try including:

• a source of protein
• plenty of vegetables
• a high-fibre carbohydrate
• some healthy fat

For example: a lentil and feta salad, chicken with wholegrain couscous, or beans and roasted vegetables in a wholemeal wrap.

If you need that 3pm snack my chocolate seed bars will give you the energy & nutrition you need!

Small changes to the balance of a meal can make a noticeable difference.

We explore energy, mood and the afternoon slump during Cook & Thrive, beginning on 8 September.

Protein in midlife

🤔Are you including enough protein throughout the day?

As we move through midlife, protein becomes increasingly important for maintaining muscle, supporting bone health and helping us feel satisfied after meals.

Rather than eating most of your protein at dinner, try spreading it across the day.

A few simple additions include:

• Greek yoghurt or seeds with breakfast
• eggs, beans, fish or chicken at lunch
• lentils, tofu, meat or fish at dinner
• nuts, yoghurt or hummus as a snack

You do not need complicated recipes or expensive protein products. Everyday foods can do the job very well. See photos above 👩‍🍳

💯We will be cooking plenty of practical, protein-rich meals during Cook & Thrive, starting on 8 September.

Early bird tickets are available now.

My reason for creating the course

Following my treatment for breast cancer in 2020, I experienced an induced menopause and could not use HRT.

Food became one of the practical tools I could use to support my health and help myself feel stronger, more energised and more in control.

That experience led me to create Cook & Thrive: a six-week programme combining evidence-informed menopause nutrition with live, enjoyable cooking.

It was a privilege to recently share that story in a CNN Academy film.

The next programme begins on 8 September, and early bird tickets are now available.

Why menopause nutrition matters

Menopause is not something we can “eat our way out of”, but what we eat can make a meaningful difference to how we feel.

✅Regular, balanced meals can support:

• steadier energy
• better concentration
• muscle and bone health
• heart health
• digestion
• a more stable mood

The key is not restriction or chasing the latest food trend. It is learning how to build satisfying meals that nourish you and work in real life.

💯That is exactly what we explore in Cook & Thrive, my six-week live menopause nutrition and cooking programme, beginning on 8 September.

Early bird tickets are now available.

🍣 Homemade sushi is much easier than you might think!

The secret is getting the sushi rice right — and in this reel, I’m showing you exactly how I prepare it before assembling the rolls.

For these, I used beautiful SAKU tuna, from along with a colourful selection of fillings, including avocado, cucumber, carrots and edamame. One of the best things about making sushi at home is that everyone can choose their own combination.

It is such a lovely dish to prepare with family or friends, and once all the ingredients are ready, the rolling is the fun part!

You’ll need:

🍚 Sushi rice
🍶 Rice vinegar and a little sugar
🌿 Nori sheets
🐟 SAKU tuna (or other sushi fish)
🥑 Avocado
🥒 Cucumber
🥕 Carrot
🫛 Edamame

Serve with soy sauce, pickled ginger and wasabi.

You’ll find my original sushi recipe and instructions through the link in my bio, on my website.

Would you try making sushi at home?
