THIS. This is my why. 🤍
It’s not six-packs. It’s not how we look in leggings. It’s not about being the strongest, the fastest or the most flexible person in the room.
It’s this lady.
Several months ago, one of my wonderful Active Retired ladies was involved in a very serious car accident. She suffered multiple, significant injuries and faced a long road of recovery ahead of her.
There were times when I genuinely wondered if I would ever see her walk through the doors of my yoga class again.
Today she did. 🤍
Today was her first day back at yoga, and I don’t think she will ever fully understand just how emotional it was for me — and for all of us — to see her standing there again.
To come through what she has come through, to rebuild her strength, to get moving again, and to make her way back to the fitness classes she loved before her accident... I am simply in awe of her.
And THIS is why we exercise as we get older.
We exercise for strength. For mobility. For independence. For resilience. For longevity.
We build strong bodies not just for what they can do today, but to give ourselves the best possible chance when life throws something at us that we never saw coming.
This incredible lady is an inspiration to every single person in her group — and most definitely an inspiration to me.p🩷
The teacher may have fought back a few tears in class today… 🥹🤍
But what a privilege it was to have her back.
Welcome home. We’ve missed you, Catherine. 🤍🧘♀️
