On Friday last our chess team took part in the Féile Fichille chess tournament in Grange N.S. We played against teams from 4 other local schools. Our players did very well and represented our school superbly. Well done to all involved.

We’ve had a very busy return to school since our break! Learning about money in Maths while literacy and SESE were all thematically linked. For literacy we focused on Anne Frank and famous Irish artists, including Jessie Buckley. In Art, we connected our learning to Van Gogh’s Starry Night .
PE kept us active with jumping and dancing, learning Rock the Boat and The Macarena. In STEM, we explored the nervous system and tested involuntary movements and reaction times.
We tried overnight oats mixed with berries and biscuits as part of our baking activities. We’re set for a big and exciting 2026 ahead!

The run-up to Christmas at our school was truly magical and filled with joy from start to finish. There was a wonderful sense of excitement in the air as pupils and staff enjoyed a range of festive activities together. The Infant Show was a highlight, bringing smiles to everyone with its colour, music and enthusiasm, while the Carol Service created a beautiful and reflective Christmas atmosphere.

Our school looked absolutely stunning thanks to the incredible Christmas decorations, which added warmth and sparkle to every corner. The festivities were perfectly rounded off with our much-loved traditional Christmas dinner, deliciously cooked by Mr O’Keeffe and enjoyed by everyone — with the added excitement of the children getting to meet Santa, making it a truly unforgettable occasion. It was a wonderful way to celebrate the season together as a school community.

🌟 Winter Walk-A-Thon – 11th December 2025! 🌟

We’re excited to announce our upcoming Winter Walk-A-Thon taking place on Thursday, 11th December. Students, staff, past pupils and families are invited to join us on the Pike Road for a fun-filled day of walking and community spirit!

This year, we’re raising funds for new library books and STEM kits for every classroom. Your support will help us continue to grow our learning resources.

🇪🇺✨ Erasmus+ Mobility at Escola Bernat Metge, El Prat de Llobregat! ✨🇪🇺

As part of our school’s ongoing involvement in the Erasmus+ Programme, we are delighted to be in Spain for a mobility with our partner school, Escola Bernat Metge. This collaboration is a wonderful educational experience for everyone involved. We are learning alongside our Spanish friends, sharing classes, ideas, and culture, and building lasting international friendships. The warmth and hospitality of our hosts make this partnership truly special.

A key focus of our visit is collaborative learning, especially through engaging robotics and music sessions. Robotics is giving pupils the opportunity to explore coding, design thinking, and problem-solving — vital skills at the heart of STEM education and the new Primary Curriculum, where creativity and inquiry take centre stage. The music classes are strengthening connections through rhythm and expression, reminding us how learning can transcend language and borders.

Erasmus+ continues to enrich our school community, offering pupils meaningful opportunities to learn, connect, and grow as global citizens. 💙🌍

We have been busy making and learning about 2D shapes in our environment. We have also spent lots of time learning about numbers and how to count.
