A busy afternoon was had with Keith from EdTips.

In groups we tackled the Rangers jigsaw game, trying to navigate our jeep to capture the poacher. An image was displayed on the board and using the correct jigsaw pieces, we had to move left, right, forwards or backwards.

Next each group got a laptop and we explored microbits. We programmed our microbit to display a message and then tested how step counters work.

Our experience in Eyrecourt Code Club definitely helped with some activities!

Over the next few years, the new Primary STEM curriculum will be rolled out in schools and after today we are really looking forward to it!

The artist David Rooney visited us this afternoon. We learned all about his art and growing up in Eyrecourt.
We were prompted to invite him to the school when we saw his art at the recent book launch at Irish Workhouse Centre - Portumna. Lots of inspiration and motivation for our budding artists.

The Eyrecourt Examiner travelled to Dublin today on their years profits. We took the train and walked to Arbour Hill Cemetary. While there we visited the Irish UN Veterans Association and were lucky to get a little tour of the museum.
Then we crossed the road and visited the Dead Zoo and Collins Barracks. Soon it was time to take the Luas to the highlight of the day-a tour of Kilmainham Gaol. Thanks to our tour guide Andy for an incredible tour.
Back on the Luas to Heuston where we had enough time to buy something to eat for the train home!
Train tickets, Luas tickets and €15 per person spending money all raised through newspaper sales, so thank you readers!

Today the junior room are working with print. They decided on their picture which Mr Perez drew on their instruction. Then it was cut out of the printing block. Pupils rolled loads of black paint and spread it on the block. The paper was pressed onto the block and it was time for the reveal!
Well done everyone!

Thanks to Irish Workhouse Centre - Portumna for inviting us to the launch of this incredible resource. We arrived early enough to have a tour of the workhouse and had time afterwards to see all the artifacts and art works.
It was such an interesting day that we will remember for years.

Best of luck to Kayla Earner and the U23 Galway Camogie team in the All-Ireland Camogie Championship semi-final against Kilkenny this Saturday.
Kayla and Ellen train our pupils every Friday and are such positive role models.
