Hi Folks. On Saturday around 10 of the mentors got together to discuss how we engage with the youngster who attend (and their parents) as well as how to best structure our CoderDojo and perform communications. More about this in future posts :)

We had a brilliant demo of their Robotics system from the team from CBS Ennis - who recently won the All-Ireland VEX competition. 🥳

Now, they are off to participate in the Worlds in St. Louis, Missouri.

Their creation showed the best of engineering ingenuity in terms of software coding and physically building a robot to meet the challenges of the competition. 🤖

They do need some help though, they need funds to America to compete. They are half-way there, but need more sponsorship- thir gofundme page link is below.

We wish them all the best!

Waiting for 330 bus to Ennis!

I thought I'd introduce the attendees in the electronics room to 30 mins (max) of V2 Micro:bit using the Microsoft Makecode website this morning.

After this, they can return to their own projects or explore that website more.

We had an excellent planning meeting of the mentors this morning. It was great to have an opportunity to share ideas among such an experienced group of volunteers.

While we all want the same thing: engage with young people so they learn while still having fun in a club atmosphere. It is very challenging to deliver.

The use of badges and belts and more formal teaching practices were discussed as well as how to transition the young people between the various groups.
