We are now taking booking for St Mary's Childcare Summer Camp from 9.30am-1.30pm ages 4-12 years of age. All children must be registered on the National Childcare Scheme.
5 weeks of a fun packed summer for the month of July!. Come and learn baking skills, go on a fun scavenger hunt. Loads of dancing and sports activities filled with football, races, a fun obstacle course and so much more.

Have Your Say in the Future of Early Learning and School-Age Childcare!

As part of the National Conversation on Education: the First Five Years and School-Age Childcare the Department is holding a series of local consultation events taking place nationwide from 20–30 April 2026. These consultations are being organised and delivered by the 30 City and County Childcare Committees (CCCs).

Each consultation will run for approximately 1.5-2 hours giving all participants the opportunity to contribute. Places are limited so book early to avoid disappointment.

Whether you’re a parent, an early years educator, a school age childcare practitioner, a childminder, a service provider, or someone with an interest in the future of early learning and care and school age childcare - we want to hear from you!

Your views will inform:

Wider discussion as part of the National Conversation on Education;
Phase 2 of Shaping the Future: the Early Years Action Plan; and
The successor strategy to First 5: the Whole-of-Government Strategy for Babies, Young Children and their Families 2019-2028.

Dear Parent / Early Years Provider,

The National Conversation on the Future of Education is now underway and this includes early learning and care, childminding and school-age childcare.

This national process is gathering the views of students, parents, teachers, school leaders and the wider public so that long-term priorities for Ireland’s education system can be shaped in an informed and inclusive way.

Its purpose is to understand:
• What is working well
• What needs improvement
• What should change or stay the same
• What should be prioritised in the years ahead
• How education can respond to social, technological and demographic change.

We know that Early Years can sometimes feel left out of wider education discussions. This time, it is central.

For Early Years specifically, the consultation is asking:
• What is working well in early learning and care
• What needs to improve for children and families
• Access, affordability and quality
• How early learning links with primary education
• How provision can better support children aged 0–5
• How school-age childcare supports children aged 4–14

Parents and providers have vital insight into how the system works in practice from transitions and inclusion to everyday challenges and successes.

The National Parents Council ( ), as the national voice for parents, will present parents’ views as part of our formal submission to the Department of Education and relevant Departments. Our role is to ensure Early Years perspectives are clearly and strongly reflected.
