Edenderry Local Training Initiative Edenderry Local Training Initiative is run by Offaly Local Development Company with Laois Offaly Education and Training Board.

The LTI programme is targeted at people aged between 18-35 who are unemployed and in receipt of a Social Welfare payment.

Are you interested in a future career in healthcare, but not sure where to start?

Our Introduction to the Healthcare Industry – QQI Level 4 Employment Skills programme begins at Edenderry Local Training Initiative on Monday, 7 September 2026.

We now have approximately 4 places remaining.

This 42-week programme is designed to help you build the skills, confidence and practical experience needed to take your next step towards employment or further education in healthcare.

🤖 Day 2 of our FREE Adult VEX Robotics Workshop!

Following a fantastic first day, our adult learners were back in the classroom today, continuing their introduction to the exciting world of VEX Robotics.

These videos give a glimpse of today's setup, with the robotics equipment ready to go, completed robots on display and laptops prepared for another morning of building, programming and problem-solving.

Over the course of the programme, participants are learning how to:
🔹 Build and assemble VEX robots
🔹 Programme robots using VEXcode
🔹 Understand sensors, motors and control systems
🔹 Develop problem-solving and logical thinking skills
🔹 Work together to complete practical engineering challenges

The enthusiasm and engagement from everyone taking part has been fantastic, with participants quickly gaining confidence and enjoying the hands-on nature of the programme.

It's great to see adults trying something completely new, challenging themselves and discovering that robotics is not only educational but also great fun!

A huge thank you to everyone attending for making the programme such a positive success so far. We look forward to seeing what the robots can do over the coming sessions! 🚀🤖

Our learners recently enjoyed a fascinating visit to the Garda College in Templemore.

The group learned about Garda training, recruitment pathways, community policing, and the wide range of career opportunities available within An Garda Síochána. Learners had the opportunity to meet Garda personnel, ask questions, and gain an insight into life at Ireland's national police training college.

Visits like these help our learners explore future career options, develop their understanding of different professions, and connect classroom learning with real-world experiences.

A sincere thank you to the Garda College staff and Garda members who welcomed our group and shared their knowledge and experiences with us.

Expressions of Interest are now open for our 'Introduction to Healthcare' QQI Level 4 Employment Skills course at Edenderry Local Training Initiative. Course starts in early September and places are limited.

Training Allowance paid - Earn as you Learn.

This full-time course will help learners gain qualifications, build confidence, learn practical skills, and prepare for work or further education in healthcare.

No previous healthcare experience is required.
