Today marks the start of a new term, and we are delighted to welcome both our returning learners and those joining us for the very first time.

Whether you're learning a new skill, gaining a qualification, meeting new people, or simply taking that first step back into education, we're excited to be part of your journey.

Every course is a new opportunity. Every class is a chance to grow, achieve, and discover what you're capable of.

Four weeks off, but they went so fast,
Now we're back, happy to be,

🌞 Summer break is nearly over... and the countdown is on! 🌞

After 4 weeks of peace, quiet, and not having to think about where the teabags are hidden, the 2 Resource Staff at Cork College of FET, Dunmanway Centre are enjoying the final 2 days of their holidays before returning on Monday 17th August!

🕸️ Our mission for the next couple of weeks:

✅ Dust off the cobwebs
✅ Set up the classroom
✅ Restock the emergency tea supplies ☕
✅ Update the computers 💻
✅ Recruit for the last remaining places on:

We'll also be getting in touch with everyone who has already booked a place to make sure you're all set for the new term.

We're excited, slightly caffeinated already, and looking forward to welcoming learners old and new back through the doors.

📢 Can't find Dunmanway on FetchCourses.ie? Don't panic! 😊

We've had a few people asking why Dunmanway isn't appearing as a sub-location when searching for courses on FetchCourses.ie.
The good news is that our Autumn 2026 courses have already been created on the system. ✅

The not-so-good news is that they're still waiting for final approval before they can go live. Unfortunately, that approval process happens in an office outside Dunmanway, so it's completely out of our hands at the moment. 🤷

🚦 Our courses are basically sitting at a red light, waiting for the green signal!

💙 A Fantastic Showcase of Community Spirit! 🎨

​We are thrilled to share this wonderful post from SVP - Vincent's Dunmanway, highlighting a brilliant collection of hand-crafted items created by our QQI Community Participation through Arts and Crafts group over the spring term.

​The group chose SVP Dunmanway as their community partner this term, pouring their creativity, dedication, and care into making these fantastic pieces to be sold to raise funds for the incredible work SVP does locally.

​A very special word of thanks and recognition goes to our tutor Deirdre, whose guidance, encouragement, and enthusiasm helped the group bring these creative ideas to life.

We would also like to thank SVP - Vincent's Dunmanway for their warm welcome and partnership.

​Well done to all the learners for their hard work, kindness, and community spirit! It is wonderful to see our learners putting the principles of community participation into action.

🎨 Take a Look in the Library Windows!

If you've been passing Dunmanway Library recently, you may have noticed a splash of colour in the windows.

The display features artwork and crafts created by learners from Cork College of FET, Dunmanway Centre, and includes everything from paintings and embroidery to mixed-media pieces and decorative crafts.

It's a lovely reminder that creativity doesn't come with an age limit or an instruction manual—just enthusiasm, imagination and a willingness to give something new a try.

Next time you're in town, take a few moments to stop and enjoy the exhibition. The photographs give a glimpse of the work, but seeing it up close is even better.

Many thanks to Dunmanway Library for hosting the display and supporting local learning and creativity.

🧶 A Heartwarming Visit to Dunmanway Community Hospital 🧶

Today, 9 learners from our QQI Level 3 Community Participation course paid a special visit to Dunmanway Community Hospital to present a beautiful collection of hand-knitted blankets that the group created over the spring term.

With temperatures soaring today, it's fair to say the blankets weren't exactly in high demand! ☀️😄 In fact, a fan and an ice cream might have been more popular this afternoon. However, while the blankets may not have been needed today, they will certainly bring warmth and comfort to residents during the colder winter months ahead.

The visit was about much more than the blankets. The group spent a wonderful hour chatting with residents, sharing stories, enjoying tea and delicious scones, and creating meaningful connections within the community. It was a lovely opportunity to put the principles of community participation into practice and to brighten everyone's day.

A very special word of thanks and recognition goes to our tutor Catherine, whose encouragement, guidance and enthusiasm helped make this project such a success. Catherine inspired the group every step of the way and supported them in creating something that will be appreciated for years to come.

We would also like to thank the staff and residents of Dunmanway Community Hospital for their warm welcome and hospitality.

Well done to all 11 learners for their dedication, kindness and community spirit. Your hard work has created not just blankets, but lasting memories and connections. ❤️
