Well done to one of our harp ensemble members Ryan who represented Louth yesterday, and to one of our Drogheda Hub students Matthias on Cello who represented MG Meath. What an opportunity for these young musicians.

Massive thanks to Michael Rooney and the team of MEs including Siobhán Buckley and Maggie Maguire who worked with all of the young musicians.

Thank you to Rosaeleen and all the team at the National Development Office for the invitation to take part.

We're looking forward to premiering Donnchadh Mac Aodh's new music with him tomorrow evening Drogheda. "For the Birds" is accompanied by specially curated images by videographer, Seán McMahon projected on the gallery walls of familiar places throughout the county - already suffering the consequences of climate change and severe flooding. Mark Deary will also lead a short discussion on the effect climate change has had on the coastal areas of the county, and how the arts can impact the work being done to highlight this.

The event is currently fully booked however, there is a short waiting list if anyone is interested in joining it, please contact the highlanes or Music Generation Louth through our socials.

We are very grateful to Harp Ireland for giving us the opportunity to be part of this project, and to the team at Louth CoCO Arts Office and Creative Ireland for funding the project. A massive thank you also to Aoife and Stephen at the Highlanes Gallery for all they have done to support the project and to 'Boyne TradFest for their support in promoting the event.

🌟 Caomhnú Lú - For the Birds 🐦
🗓 Friday, September 18 • 6 PM
📍 Highlanes Gallery, Drogheda

Caomhnú Lú -“For the Birds” is a musical response to the birdlife of County Louth in 2025, drawing on the Louth Bird Report and its record of activity along the county's coastline over a twelve month period. Dundalk Bay and the wider Louth coast are vital habitats for the many species that pass through and settle here, and this piece meditates on the fragility of that world
in the face of climate change. Bird calls and songs are evoked throughout, tracking the arrival and departure of different species from spring to winter.

🎶 The MGL Senior Harp Ensemble, led by Donnchadh and local harper Deirdre Ní Bhuachalla, with visuals by Seán McMahon, this immersive performance combines music, imagery, along with community voices, facilitated by Mark Deary, in response to climate change.

Tickets are going fast - don’t miss this special Culture Night event.

A look back at last Saturday’s Pop in the Park event at St Helena’s Park, Dundalk. What a fabulous day it was. Massive congrats to the fabulous young musicians who came along to share their music, to the fabulous audience and of course our wonderful MGL team of musician educators who were there to support the young musicians in their performance.

We are very grateful to Louth County Council who permitted the use of the space and facilitated the event.

This event marked the final performance of the academic year for our Rock and Pop programmes. Keep an eye out on our socials for some summer programmes coming up and for registration for our Autumn term
