🎨 NEW! Du Noyer Junior is here! 📸

Do you love taking photos? Enjoy painting? Or simply find yourself wondering about the rocks, landscapes and fossils around you?

For the first time, the Du Noyer Competition is opening its doors to second-level students across the Republic of Ireland! Get into Geoscience is proud to partner with Geological Survey Ireland for this initiative.

Du Noyer Junior has two creative strands:

📷 Photography: capture an interesting aspect of Ireland’s geology through your camera.

🎨 Watercolour: create an original watercolour painting inspired by the geology and landscapes around you.

You could photograph a dramatic coastline, paint a mountain landscape, discover an unusual rock, or spot geological details hiding in the places you visit every day.

The competition is inspired by George Victor Du Noyer, a 19th-century geologist and watercolour artist who documented Ireland’s landscapes and geology.

📅 Entries are open from today – 31st October 2026

🏫 Open to second-level students in the Republic of Ireland. One entry per student.

Our Geoscience for Leaving Certificate Teachers CPD IS NOW OPEN!

Want to bring more geoscience into your classroom? 🪨🌱🌋

Across six online evening sessions, you’ll:

🔬 Learn from expert geoscientists and educators
🤝 Work directly with a geoscientist to co-create curriculum-facing classroom resources
💡 Explore engaging, real-world geoscience topics
🎓 Build your confidence in teaching geoscience
🌍 Connect geoscience to climate change, sustainability and the world around us
