Today, Saturday November 9th Lassus Chamber Choir, directed by Dr Ite O'Donovan, will present a Remembrance Concert in St Mary's Church, Haddington Road, Dublin 4 from 7.30pm to 9.00pm. This Unique evening of music and poetry celebrates those who lost their lives in the Great War, in particular Irish statesman Thomas Kettle. The beautiful acoustics of St Mary's will resound to music by Orlande de Lassus, John Tavener, Maurice Durufle and Allegri's Miserere. Poetry by Kettle, Yeats, John Henry Newman, Gerard Manley Hopkins and Siegfried Sassoon will be read by Dawn Bradfield & Mark O'Regan. Cian Flynn will sound the Last Post and all present will join the choir in singing Abide With Me. It will be another memorable occasion!

Lassus return to St Mary's Haddington Road, Dublin 4 on Saturday, November 9th 2019 to present Remembrance Concert at 7.30pm. This special evening of music & poetry in remembrance of those who died in the Great War will pay particular tribute to Irish statesman Thomas Kettle who, aged 36, lost his life in the Battle of the Somme.
Poetry commemorating the Great War by Irish poets including Thomas Kettle, George Russell and W.B. Yeats will be read by two of Ireland's foremost actors, Dawn Bradfield and Mark O'Regan. The theme of Peace will be highlighted in texts by Siegfried Sassoon, John Henry Newman (canonised on October 13th 2019) the first Rector of the Catholic University of Ireland 1854-58 (now UCD) and Gerard Manley Hopkins who was received into the Catholic Church by Newman in 1866 and was Professor of Greek & Latin in University College Dublin from 1884 until his death in 1889.
Lassus, directed by Dr Ite O’Donovan - Dublin Choral Foundation's fully professional chamber choir - will perform Allegri's Miserere and works by Orlande de Lassus, Maurice Durufle and John Tavener.
At the conclusion Cian Flynn (trumpet) will sound The Last Post and all present will be invited to join in singing Abide With Me.

Lassus will present a Concert of Music, Poetry & Readings in the beautifully restored St Mel's Cathedral, Longford on Sunday, September 16th 2018 at 8.00pm. The concert will bring you on a moving and enthralling journey through the ages. The beautiful acoustics of the cathedral will be the perfect setting in which to hear timeless choral treasures from Renaissance masterpieces to Bruckner's Locus iste and John Tavener's The Lamb.
