Dear pals,

I'm embarking on a charity hitch-hike this Friday with NO MONEY and a Microwave. I'm going to try to hitch-hike to every county in Ireland & Northern Ireland and relying on the kindness of strangers to survive.

I will be leaving Ballinasloe in Galway and headed toward Sligo for my first stop but I'm hoping to make it to every single county in Ireland.

This is a logistical nightmare and going to be the hardest thing I've ever done. It will involve standing on the side of the road in terrible weather every day hoping for someone to stop.

I really need help to get this going...

MC CLEARY for VP EVENTS
So today I would like to announce that I'm re-running for the position of VP Events.

It's been a fun/mad year so far but it can always be better that's why I have decided to re-run for VP For events for DITSU.

WHAT I HAVE DONE THIS YEAR:
* RAISE & GIVE:: This year we are set to raise more money for charity than in the last several years.
* THE BALL:: Teaming up with Outset & UCD we launched The Ball Irelands biggest outdoor student festival featuring Gavin James, Bakermat, Waze & Odysessy, Mark McCabe Hare Squead. & more. (Tickets still available in DITSU offices ;) )
*BRAND NEW EVENTS:: Alleyway raves- 24 Hour Sleepout - Speedfriending - Intervarsity Iron Stomachs - BYOB Nights - Tie Dye Yer Clothes - Art Exhibition
*ENTS CREW:: I've brought back overnight training and have one of the wildest ents crews in years were students can easily meet dozens of new friends. I have added in Ents crew specific awards to acknowledge the hard work of students.
*FREE PARTIES FOR STUDENTS:: Our shopping trolley soundsystem has proved a cheap and seriously fun way to enjoy college events even if your broke.
*DISCOUNT CARD:: This year I brought back the DITSU discount card offering deals to students.
*FRESHERS BALL:: We had the best lineup in Ireland for our Freshers Ball featuring The Rubberbandits, Mark Mc Cabe and Mattress Mick. (IMO)
*FREE STUFF:: Each campus has gotten deliveries of free breakfast cereals and loads of different drinks.
BEAST BALL: Hosting a large formal ball for DIT students (launching promotion and selling it out in 4 days)
*NO CLIQUES - NO SNOBS:: Everyone is invited attitude: My policy this year has been inclusion encouraging students to meet new people and trying my best to break cliques and private groups.
*ABSEIL / SKYDIVE:: I've ran a charity abseil off Croke park and in the middle of organizing a charity skydive for DIT students.

This has been my first year, it's been a learning curve but this isn't enough. There are many things I want to do that unfortunately this year I couldn't do due to a lack of time and logistics:

WHAT I WANT TO DO NEXT YEAR
*€25,000 FOR CHARITY: I will do this by hosting large scale fundraising events and getting more students involved.
*MYSTERY TOUR ABROAD: One of the events I couldn't run this year due to matters out of my control was a mystery tour abroad.Next year I will be hosting a mystery tour abroad like most other colleges have.
*TEDX - Originally planned to have this in the second semester; due to problems with naming rights and licences this event hasn't been possible yet.Now that I have experience and consulted with several organizers I'm confidant I can pull off a fantastic event.
*FREE STUFF FOR ALL: I want to work with large companies to get MORE free food & soft drinks to be regularly provided to DIT students in all campuses.
*ENTS CREW: Ents crew have been amazing for keeping the buzz going in college and I feel they should be rewarded more. I pledge to running members of the month competitions, an awards ceremony each semester, Ents crew t-shirts, Jackets for most dedicated members and a Ents crew trip away and a committee.
*DITSU AWARD: Last I created the DIT Brendan Behan Award for DIT Societies. for DITSU I want to do something similar so DIT can attract more high profile guests and celebrities to come and talk to students.
*WORKSHOPS: LinkedIn Parties. Public speaking, Social Media influencers conference.
*GOODVIBES: Keep the crack & dancing going.
