Advanced Exercise Coach certification: Module 6: Circuit Systems: Single system, Mixed Methods, Suspension training & Kettlebells.

On our upcoming Advanced Exercise Coach course, we discuss a multitude of training methods and techniques, during our personal trainer certification, on our gym floor. In fact, 70% of our course is done, in the trenches, down on the gym floor, applying all the evidence-based best practice we have covered.

This is an example of specific section on a workout plan, termed a "High Energy Circuit Class".
We cover in-depth the rationale for this type of training, the best practice structure, the ratio of stations to participants, the set up of each exercise for the broad range of groups, the reps vs time protocol, amongst other influencing factors such as the higher level of work capacity and volume involved and the background of the type of individual that demanding training series like this might involve.

Circuits 1: Single system.
Circuits 2: Mixed Methods.
Circuits 3: Suspension training & Kettlebells.

The following is a sample of a lecture from our upcoming globally accredited Personal Trainer course at the Endeavour Academy.

The topic covered relates to Hypertrophy. A very important exercise response for muscular and optimal health in regards to active people. The sample offers empirical evidence of what the major factors and environment required in developing a larger or more hypertrophic muscle.

We explain where each influencing factor sits in the hierarchy, for example how muscular tension is of prime importance and that the other two main factors, metabolic stress and muscle damage matter only when the first step of tension is achieved.

The following clip gives a sample of very important topic covered on our Advanced Exercise Coaching certification. We cover this topic in our module 4, Coaching Methods part of our personal trainer certification.

We go over and over the safety element of the Spot and where and how to position with a solid foundation, subject to the lift being performed, across genders (in this case its the bench press).

We also cover when exactly to intervene during the lift, without spoiling the rep for the lifter and potentially causing consternation.

The RAMP warm-up system was designed by Ian Jeffries and the concept first came to prominence via a UKSCA paper referenced below. It is structured in such a manner as to prioritise a certain repertoire of exercises that fulfil the necessary preparatory changes needed to ready the individual for the exercise task ahead. This repertoire can contain a blend of exercise from generic to specialist exercise that can be included for the immediate training plan or be included to facilitate a longer-term preparatory base.

R - Raise Body Temperature.
~ "the activities themselves are carefully selected and highly specific to an athlete’s goals".

A - Activate.
~ “allows the performance of the key fundamental movements required for effective performance in each & every session”.

M - Mobilise.
~ “involves controlled movement in each pattern through the required range of motion”.

P - Potentiate.
~ "in that capacities that are important over the longer term can be targeted within warm-ups”.

Case Study: week 11.

A heavily weighted aspect of the final grade, we take the Case Study as a very important part of the over all course. Why, because it allows the student to take the tools and skills they have learned up to this point and apply them in a real-world scenario with one of our existing gym members.

Understand the upstream aspects form the customers perspective?
How to run an effective Needs Analysis?
What are the clients goals?
What plan or programme is to be constructed form this information?
What are the logistics in this scenario?
Can you time training to suit both parties?
How often should or can you both meet to train?
Is nutrition a composite part of the training?
What is considered a valid set of tests/retests?

What is their track record of training?
What can they commit to in terms of training frequency?
What should they commit to in terms of training frequency?
Where is the gym located in relation to their home and work?
What is their motivation level?
What is their confidence level that they can achieve their goals?
What is the actual training plan?
What information do you need to extract before this plan can be put in place?
