Loretta Jennings - Global Career & Education Consultant
Loretta is a Chartered member of the Institute of Guidance Counsellors (IGC) with over thirty years experience in career guidance at all levels. She worked as a second level guidance counsellor for 16 years before moving to NUI Maynooth where as Director of the University’s Career Development Centre she played a significant role in the high placement rate of its graduates and the University being
awarded ‘Sunday Times University of the Year’ in 2008. With a long history of writing for publication dating back to the early days of the Student Yearbook and Career Directory, Loretta has contributed to some of Ireland’s key online and paper-based career resources including gradireland.com and postgradireland.com. She has also been commissioned to write for the National Centre for Guidance in Education and Careers Portal as well as the leading global country-specific employment and career information resource www.goinglobal.com and is currently expanding her expertise to cover International Career and Job Search Consultancy. Sharing a passion for her profession, she has been a keynote speaker both at home and abroad, and has presented at conferences as far afield as Australia. She has also provided consultancy services on best practice delivery for a number of government departments in the Middle East and European countries and currently lectures on NUIM’s Adult Guidance and Counselling training programme. Her doctoral research interests revolve around Career Development Theory, in particular the influence of community on career choice. While she is accredited in the administration, scoring and interpretation of a number of psychometric instruments, her approach to guidance is very much an educational one designed to equip clients with the skills and tools to make informed decisions.
