1st Year History Trip around Dublin
Our 1st Year History students enjoyed a fantastic day out in the sunshine around Dublin city centre!
The day began at Dublinia, where students explored life in Medieval Dublin and took part in an engaging debate on the feudal system, with some students even getting into character (and costume!) to represent their role in society.
Students then explored the museum exhibits before enjoying lunch in the grounds of St Patrick's Cathedral. The afternoon continued with a visit to the 1926 Exhibition at Dublin Castle, where students completed research activities linked to their Junior Cycle History studies.
Both students and teachers had a fantastic day, and Dublinia staff commented that they had never seen a group so engaged and well behaved, perhaps we have a few future historians among us!
A huge thank you to all the teachers who helped make the trip possible. What a brilliant way to finish 1st Year History!

Parents Association AGM - Thank You!
A big thank you to our wonderful Parents' Association for all the great work that they do throughout the year, on behalf of all the parents and guardians in the College.
We are very lucky to have such a wonderful bunch of volunteers contributing to our school community.
The AGM was held last night and we want to especially mention Elaine O'Connor, who is departing her role as Chairperson of the Committee after many years of service to the school community.
We wish Elaine and all her family the very best for the future.
Kind regards,
Philip Wallace,

Our sincere appreciation goes to CANÚ Folk group who enriched the atmosphere with music and song and Church Fund Committee for their generous contribution from the annual Terenure College Charity Ladies Lunch.
Thank you, the Terenure College Community, who continue to contribute each year. Since 2022, through your generosity, Terenure College have contributed over €110,000 to Pieta House through our Darkness into Light Walk.
We thank everyone who contributed to the event’s success: staff and students who coordinated, planned and promoted all aspects of the event.
In the shared steps taken under the dawn sky the true impact of Darkness into Light becomes evident; it helps to start conversations, to break down barriers to discussing mental health, and initiates conversations about the importance of checking in eachother. Moreover, it promotes an open-door policy, encouraging everyone to seek and offer support freely.
Each year our school community find solace and strength through our Darkness into Light event, we walk not just for ourselves but in solidarity with those impacted by the darkness of su***de.
The hope you created will continue to shine brightly for everyone who turns to Pieta in their darkest moment. Thank you again for being part of this inspiring community
The words spelt out with candles on the hills were chosen thoughtfully by our 6th year students:
•'Hope' symbolizes the journey from despair to recovery, fostering community and courage.
•'Talk' because talking breaks the silence around mental health, reducing stigma and encouraging support.
•’Listen’ emphasizes active listening to foster connection, and a compassionate community.
'We, as 6th-year students, look forward to returning for future Darkness into Light walks at Terenure College, believing that every footstep taken and moment shared under that dawn sky is a step closer to the sunrise and a brighter future.'

The College Run Final
Well done to all who competed in the College Run Final today. With good weather and a really competitive race, it was a fantastic occasion and once again a real highlight of the college calendar.
Congratulations to Matthew Reid, who came home as the winner in a superb time of 4 minutes and 23 seconds. He was followed closely by Aidan Flanagan in 4 minutes and 27 seconds, with Ezra Van Egeraat finishing strongly in 4 minutes and 28 seconds.
A special thank you to Mr. Kiernan and his team of TY students for organising and running all of the heats across every year group. The idea behind the competition is that every student in every year group gets the opportunity to participate in the College Mile, with the winners from each year group progressing further through the competition to reach today’s final, where the fastest college miler is crowned.
A brilliant day of sport and competition — well done again to everyone involved!

Darkness into Light 2026
We are thrilled to host our annual Darkness into Light event tomorrow, Saturday, 9th May, for what promises to be the most important sunrise of the year.
Led by our inspirational 6th Year students, this event has become a treasured tradition at Terenure College. Your support means the world to us. Thanks to your incredible generosity, we have already raised over €22,000 for Pieta House this year — a remarkable achievement.
For those joining us, we are very much looking forward to sharing a powerful and memorable sunrise moment with the entire Terenure College community.
Please note the following important details for the morning:
Car parking will be available in the school yard from 3:45am.
The College Avenue will be closed to vehicles from 4:15am.
Dogs are not permitted on the sports pitches, with the exception of guide and service dogs.
T-shirts will be available for collection from our 6th Year students outside the swimming pool from 3.45am for those who have not yet received them.
We aim to begin the walk at approximately 4:20am.
Donations can be made on the morning or online via this link:
https://www.darknessintolight.ie/fundraisers/terenurecollegedarknessintolight2026/fundraiser
Participants are welcome to complete either:
One lap (2.5km), or
Two laps (5km)
Whatever distance you choose, please know that every step counts. Each moment we share on the morning of May 9th is a beacon of light, a symbol of hope, and a powerful gesture of solidarity.
This year, we are delighted to welcome CANÚ St. Pius X Folk Group who will enhance the occasion through music and song.
We warmly invite everyone to join us for refreshments after the walk under the arches beside the College Chapel.
Thank you for being a light against the dark.
