RB Brass&Woodwind Repairs

Some before/after shots of work done on a beautiful yamaha xeno Bb trumpet recently in for an overhaul. Gold brass is extremely soft and this horn had been packed unfortunately in a suitcase causing some crush injuries. Valves slides pushed out of alignment too necessitating refitting of valves and lapped to smooth action.....all good now and customer says it's playing better than before it's injuries!.....great to get this horn playing again

Busy autumn here in the workshop......besson 700 series EEb tuba under repair. Some sizeable dents in bow removed effectively with the magnetic dent system. Also F slide tubes resoldered and general overhaul to valves and slides .Happy days!

Schilke B5 trumpet that met with a fall on tarmac....some deep scratches in the silver plate which will remain but smoothed out with buffing machine but a good result overall o think. Now onto valve and slide overhaul. A 30yr old instrument that should give many more years of service!

Interesting modification during the year......turning down a baroque trumpet mouthpiece to make a more comfortable rim.....

Just a before and after of a besson compensating horn under overhaul. Valves and slides removed to allow easier work on the badly dented bow. Finished now with all valves moving smoothly. Roll on the autumn!

Last night at the abbey theatre watching singer/songwriters Damian Dempsey’s show tales from the Holywell . The story of his life told through his music and his hilariously funny stories, bittersweet at times and uplifting at others , brilliant crew of musicians including Aura Stone on bass….go see!!!

Alex 103 double horn with dented bow . Dents removed and onto valve/slide overhaul

EEb tuba with dented bow. Always vulnerable to dents here outside the reinforced areas. Used the magnetic dent system to repair this. Pictures 3/4 show results
