From conversations on climate justice and biodiversity to real action in everyday life 🌍✨

One Transition Year student shared how the Climate Literacy Programme opened her eyes to the impact of transport choices and inspired her to swap weekend lifts for her local bus route instead.

Over 8 weeks, students explored topics including climate action, sustainable development, fast fashion, food systems, biodiversity loss, and how young people can be changemakers on the issues they care about.

By the final session, students were already creating their own initiatives, from clothing collection projects to planning talks for local primary schools. That is the power of climate education: confidence, connection and action.

β€œIf we continue living as we are currently, we will do irreversible damage to our planet… So, I urge you. Make a change. Turn off the tap. Use a reusable bag. It all adds up.” πŸ’š

Nature restoration requires more than compliance alone. As highlighted in the Community Conversations by Restore Nature.ie, people restore what they understand, value, and feel agency over.

This is where experiential and hands-on education plays a crucial role. Climate literacy gives children a living, sensory, rooted relationship with the place they inhabit.

This why building Climate Literacy in your school is important!
