Shellybanks Educate Together School opened in 2014. Fun, creative and enthusiastic school community! Visit our website at www.shellybanksetns.ie

The new Shellybanks Educate Together National School came to life because of a hardworking volunteer group of local parents representing Sandymount, Ringsend, Irishtown, Ballsbridge, Grand Canal Docks and Donnybrook. The school opened its doors in September 2014 in its temporary home in Ballsbridge with two streams of Junior Infants. It will continue to bring in two new classes each year until all primary classes are represented. We are excited to watch our school community grow!

Lisa’s 6th class have been learning all about Bia in their Gaeilge lessons and today they were busy putting their Irish recipes into action by creating some delicious gingerbread people. They worked in groups to make dough, then used the schools portable ovens to bake them in the classroom, and finally decorated them in their own unique styles!

1st Class have some very exciting literacy stations taking place in their classroom.
Lots of voices, lots of learning and plenty of enthusiasm as the children gain confidence and develop their reading and writing skills.
They are busy bees reading at home too!
We love seeing their progress every day! 💛

Sixth Class have been focusing on the theme Sa Bhaile in their Gaeilge lessons. One of their activities was to draw out the floor plan of their dream home and label every space as Gaeilge.
For History, the students worked in groups to research leaders and change makers including Gandhi, Julius Caesar and Abraham Lincoln. They learned about their lives, leadership and the impact they had on the world.
We linked our Learn Together lessons with Art this week by looking more closely at the features of places of worship. We created our own stained glass art, a feature that can often be seen in churches. Using laminate sheets, black paper and permanent markers, the students created some beautiful pieces of art. Well done on all your fantastic work, Sixth Class!

Aisling’s Junior Infants have been enjoying our Space theme 🚀 We read stories about space and created shape rockets, aliens, and puffy paint moons. Through integrated play, the children role-played in a space station, built rockets, and explored small-world play with planets and spaceships.
