it's never too late to give a shout-out to great initiatives! 🌟

We were delighted to attend the Frederick Douglass Students' Human Rights Conference in University College Cork a month ago, funded through our cluster grant programme.

The students of Cork Educate Together Secondary School , Millstreet Community School (Millstreet CS) and Coachford College Coachford College delivered an exceptional programme for the conference including student-led workshops on gender equality and Occupied Territories Bill to a range of NGO-led workshops. We commend them on the success of the conference and on their mission to encourage peers to become informed and active global citizens.

Really looking forward to this webinar on May 27th.

Our director, Dr. Katie Chapple will present findings from a study conducted within WorldWise Global Schools programme for Global Citizenship Education (GCE) in post-primary schools. Financial Justice Ireland offers a webinar on a very important topic: wealth taxes. This session is designed with teachers in mind and it aims to support them in building confidence to engage young people on this topic and to bring the debate on tax justice to life in the classroom. Join them on 13th May!

We’re really pleased to announce an upcoming webinar covering one of today’s most urgent issues: wealth taxes.

The session will cover how wealth is defined, how it might be taxed, and contextualising wealth taxes amid soaring inequality, the rise of the right and declining democracy.

Joining us will be Dr. Tom McDonnell, co-director of the Nevin Economic Research Institute (NERI) and a lead researcher on Oxfam Ireland’s recent report on wealth inequality. We are delighted to have him lead us through key issues and to answer questions about how the tax system could be used to build a more just and sustainable world.

This session is designed with teachers in mind. We would like to support them in building confidence to engage young people on this topic and to bring the debate on tax justice to life in the classroom.

It will also be of interest to youth and community educators or anyone interested in economic literacy for social justice. All are welcome!

Many thanks to Minister of State Neale Richmond for his opening address, and for the continued support of Irish Aid to our programme.

We would like to thank everyone involved.

Special thanks to Comhlámh who shared their valuable insights on their End Orphanage Volunteering Campaign and to National Association of Principals and Deputy Principals (NAPD) for moderating a panel of school leaders, who shared thoughtful and practical advice on implementing a whole-school approach to Global Citizenship Education.
