Back in May, two very important new staff members arrived at their schools.

Jolene started at Citywest & Saggart Community National School in Dublin, while Gunner headed to Ballincollig Community School in Cork. Their placements brought the number of AADI School Support Dogs to 15.

At the time, their school journeys were only beginning. Now, after their first summer holidays, Jolene and Gunner are heading into a brand-new academic year with plenty of energy and a much better idea of where everything is...

Our School Support Dogs are trained to become part of everyday school life, supporting calmer transitions, emotional regulation, participation and a stronger sense of belonging. Early findings from our programme show particularly strong results in student wellbeing and emotional regulation, with schools describing dogs helping children settle in the morning, return to class and feel safer and calmer during the school day.

Getting Jolene and Gunner to this point took a whole team.

A huge well done to Nadine on another class of School Support Dogs successfully placed, to the foster families who gave these two the very best start, and to everyone who donates, fundraises and supports AADI.

You helped get Jolene and Gunner through those school gates. Now we get to see what their next chapter brings.
