Our final speaker’s event of the year! This Wednesday at 6PM in the Thomas Davis Theatre in Arts Block, we will be joined by Ted Danowitz, Chief of Political Unit of the US Embassy 🇺🇸 in Dublin.
This Q&A session will centre on challenges to international security in the coming year, covering the war in Ukraine, Taiwan, and Iran.

Dr. Michael Breen of DCU, is an expert in intergovernmental politics, and will give an in-depth analysis of the organisation, its outcomes, global consequences, and the different national forces at play! 🇺🇸🇨🇳🇷🇺🇮🇳🇪🇺
There will also be an open Q&A, so you’ll have a chance to ask Dr. Breen about the most important international summit of the year! 🌍

EGM Time!
Join us on Friday at 6PM in the Uí Chadhain theatre for our 2022 EGM!
There will be 3 positions up for grabs:
- First year representative
- Postgraduate representative
- OCM
You can sign up to run through our bio or weekly email, or nominate yourself on the day. You’ll need to be a member of SOFIA at least 24 hours before the EGM to run or vote.
Everyone running will give a really short pitch as to why you’d like the position - so if you’ve enjoyed SOFIA events so far and would like to get involved in any way, please consider running !
We’ll also be going for a night out afterwards, so even if you aren’t interested in a position, come along for a social event :)

Join us this Wednesday from 6-7pm to hear speak about Irish Peacekeeping Abroad!🇮🇪🕊Dr. Berry currently serves as an Independent TD for the Kildare South constituency. Previously, Dr. Berry spent 23 years in the Irish Defence Forces and served overseas. He later qualified as a doctor and was then appointed head of the Military Medical School in the Curragh, Co. Kildare. The talk will be held in Arts Block Room 4050A.😌
